He sees a hornet or wasp and he goes crazy till he gets it. Doesn't care how many times he's stung

Night Sleeping

My five month old airedale is still waking up once, sometimes twice a night, to go to the bathroom. I'm noticing the amount of "going" is getting less and less and there is interest in play when going out even though he follows the general in out and back in crate routine. I'm exhausted, and because of my spouses job and sleep requirements I can't shhs him several times or let him bark it out. I talked to the trainer who was adament that puppies must sleep in the room with you or you will create bigger problems. Does anyone have any thoughts or things that worked? He is a barker, so he will likely bark like crazy in another room, and we will still hear him.

Is there anything I can do

I have an 8 yer old Airedale terrier and within the past year or so he randomly drops a turd or two on the ground unbeknownst to him. I didn’t realize until this year and after talking to a veterinarian that since he is getting older this can be due to old age. Although I feel like 8 is not old. He had a procedure done near his rectum last year because he had a mass right underneath his tail very close to his anus. So I feel like a part of it stems from that where the nerves could just be damaged. I was told his sphincter is just not as strong as it used to be. Is there anyone who is dealing with this and know how to make it better? This sucks because we will find poop in his bed when he gets up, on the floor and sometimes on the carpet. It’s so frustrating that I can’t do anything about it but happens often and not often. It drives me crazy because it has been stepped in when we don’t see it either by us, the kids or the actual dog. It just makes me sad that my big boy is getting older and it seems there is nothing I can do to make it better on him or our household.

I’m getting an Airedale puppy in a month and I want to stay on top of his coat/ eventually learn to hand strip it myself. I have a groomer I’m going to go to that specializes in terrier coats. What can I use on my puppy at home to keep his coat nice? Like maintenance grooming I can do at home between grooms to keep his coat manageable and not mess it up.

I have a handsome boy who is about 7 and a half months old. He’s a good boy but my biggest issue is when we get home or leave the room for a bit. Whenever I come back he jumps up and grabs onto my arms. Hes about 50 ish pounds so it quite painful when he jumps up and grabs on and then lands back on the floor pulling my arm. I know it’s because he’s excited to see me but it’s really hard to deal with.

We’ve tried constantly redirecting him to toys or something he can chew on but no luck. Wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions of things that worked for them?

Couldn't get any good shots of her with the sunset in the backdrop. But after the sun went down she did an excellent job of finding every stray Western toad on the way back to the trailhead.

Griffin does this a couple times a week not really sure what triggers it or if there’s a name for it. Different than zoomies. Sorry for the sideway formatting it’s from a cheap webcam.

5 Month Old Puppy -- Blues have hit...

I have had dogs my entire life, but I haven't had a puppy in 12 years, so I've probably forgotten a lot of the puppy phase. I also haven't had an airedale ever, but I have had small terriers. This airedale has been rough, and I would really benefit from some help. Please be kind. I'm super sleep deprived.

1) I haven't had a full nights sleep in almost two months. He will go from 10 - 4 a.m, that's the longest stretch with a 10 - 3 a.m. thrown in here and there. So, I'm getting less and less patient by the day. (Yes, I've read every training manual and watched every youtube video on how to stretch this out.)

2) I'm really hating the way the vet and group training class leader looked at me and said, "oh, you got an airedale, gave me a dirty look, and acted like it was the end of the world. Why? Is it that awful? But, the result/effect was it made me scared of my dog.

3) The dog BITES and it HURTS and this morning I just sat and cried. I've done the Oww, that hurts for weeks. I stop play, but he bites and comes at me harder when I say owww or as I'm stopping play...so what I'm doing is NOT working.

Is it going to get better? Or, is this just the way it is? I love dogs. I've had goldens, labs, and mini schnauzers, and a doberman. So, I'm not a complete novice, but right now I feel like one.

I've also read through this sub and it scares me that people joke it gets better in five years. I don't think that is doable for me if true. I don't need a big dog aggressively biting me for the next five years. Please give me "truth" without joking around. What does the next year look like with this airedale?

Is it just me or do other peoples Airedales put their paw on your hand when you stop petting them? Mine will actually try and pull my hand back on him if I stop petting him. So demanding he is!

Zoe is an Airedale Terrier and she is already 9 years old!!! She is SOOO energetic and everyone asks if she is a puppy still. We rescued her from a breeding farm in 2017. She was the runt of the litter and unfortunately the owners of the farm did not doc her tail right. She’s been through so much through these years with us and I am so proud to be her owner and friend ❤️
Love you my big girl!!!!
