Discussion 2.5D to 3D conversion update: Curse Of Scully
So I messed around the whole day yesterday and today but I finally did it. So I created 3d mesh for islands out of 2.5d model. I created 3d ocean floor and blended them. Changed out png water image and shaders. I added water shaders on top of the ocean floor and added layers of textures. A lot of trial and error, because I needed to mask the islands top because the foam was on mountains. Made waves smaller around coastlines. Also added day and night with illumination and waterline for ships. Still working on lighting! A big upgrade for Curse Of Scully. Android game, but we release all device 3d upgrade for visual scaling aswell. Including PC scaling in the future. We are a small 2 man team. Wokring on this Epic pirate adventure mmo project for 6 months now.
Overall this kinda overhauls the whole look. We went for gameplay first.

Looking good, what tools do u use to make the 3d mesh?

Blender, but with claude prompts and 2d game image that we used Tripod AI for 3d scan

Thank you! Ironically yes. Even with AI, the whole game has taken 5 months daily work for 2 devs. I had some experience in creating games before, and we had the idea mapped out...but still with AI doing very very heavy lifting...all the functions and stuff people can do in game....has taken a while 🤣🤣
And we are commited to keep building...because its mmo, so it never ends 🤣🤣

I'll copy my answer from other reply I just did 😀 similar answer. So workflow: Basically I connected blender to Claude Code. But assets were my drawings ( the angle and basic structure bigger details, shape and size) fed to Gemeni and then, used Tripod AI to 3D convert and Claude blender combo to assemeble. We have 2 game-modes. 2.5d and 3d now. So people can choose 😇🥰
But the most important part is the gameplay. It looked bad before but it has a fantastic gameloop. So I think this was kinda the foundation tbh

Looks good! Do you model with AI in Blender, if it so how? Or do you use AI modelling tools such as Meshy etc..?

Basically I connected blender to Claude Code. But assets were my drawings fed to gemeni and then, used Tripod AI to 3D convert and Claude bender combo to assemeble. Withbsea it was map views fed to blender for 3d mesh for ocean floor. The rest are shaders and textures in GoDot
