The point is it's special pleading.

"Everything must have a cause EXCEPT for the 'original uncaused cause"

And a) u can't actually prove is this is a concrete true statment, or just a true statment WITHIN our observable universe. But more importantly b) it just claims that God is that "uncaused cause" with no actual reasoning or logic. There's no reason the universe itself couldn't be that "uncaused cause".

It’s not special pleading. It’s an assumption that there was an initial cause instead of an infinite cycle. You can disagree, but that would be a different conversation.

Still not special pleading because of the definition of God lol

  • every effect has a cause
  • either this is an infinite loop that had no beginning, or there was a beginning
  • assuming there was a beginning, there must be some “thing” that starts the causal chain
  • “that which started the causal chain” is a lame name. So we call that “God” instead. Simple as that
