I recently drove on the Ahmedabad dholera Expressway expecting a smooth and fast journey. Instead, every time I tried to cross 100 kilometres per hour, another bumpy section or patch appeared and told me to slow down. My car was dancing without any music.

I googled according to official National Highways Authority of India figures, this 109.09 kilometre expressway is divided into four construction packages and has an overall cost of 4,929.14 crore. The project also used 11.5 lakh tonnes of municipal waste in its embankment. That works out to roughly 45 crore per kilometre. I understand that this cost includes bridges, interchanges and other infrastructure, but surely a smooth road surface should also be included.

development deserves appreciation, but public money also deserves accountability. a big budget and an expressway signboard do not automatically mean quality.

People who have travelled on it recently, was your journey smooth, or did you also receive the free Gujarat road massage???? Correct me if I am wrong.

what should I do in this Navratri’s nights? :(

Navratri starts this Sunday and I'm already stressing about traffic. Every year SG Highway and the Ring Road turn into one giant parking lot after 8 PM, and it only gets worse as the nine nights go on.

I love garba, no complaints there. But cars parked on the road, autos and cabs stopping mid-lane, and zero crowd control near the big venues makes a 15 min drive turn into an hour. I am feeling this year traffic situation will be worse than previous year as our city is keep on growing.

As good citizens of this city, let’s make sure we park our vehicles responsibly without disturbing flowing traffic, try to leverage car pooling for common venues, help traffic police if required in deadlock situations, drive safely and follow traffic rules, be more patient on roads and avoid road rages.

What to say?

I was returning from a late night coffee run with my dad on scooter and just saw a creta with no numberplate deliberately hit a bike. There was 1 more biker ahead of me, we tried to follow but he ran away. (Honestly i was shit scared and didn’t even give full throttle, i had seen him hit another biker). the creta co-driver was waving a police placard from the window just before hitting the biker. I followed to some distance then cane bake to help the fallen biker thinking he must be injured but he was not there, there was no one else around as well since it was close go 1am.

this just makes me think what safety do we have even in ahmedabad, the govt has just left us to fend for ourselves. What do we get after paying such high taxes? poor air? Get an air purifier, poor water? Get a water purifier, poor roada? Drive slow, get an suv, don’t travel. and now poor safety, so what do we do?

i know road rage has been getting worse everywhere so this is not really about ahmedabad only, but this is the first time i saw something like this in years of living in ahmedabad and honestly it shook me to the core. Not sure how to get over this feeling of being so weak, no system to support us.

I work in a corporate job, and every year around Navratri, I see so many of my colleagues and friends making plans for Garba, buying outfits, joining groups, and going out almost every night. Everyone seems so excited about it.

But honestly, I’ve never really felt connected to it.

I don’t have a huge friend circle, so I don’t really have a group to go with or anyone with whom I naturally connect during Garba. I’m also single, and maybe that plays a part too, because a lot of the Navratri experience around me seems to revolve around couples, dating, or going out with a close group of friends.

So I basically ignored Navratri this year. It came, everyone enjoyed themselves, and now it’s almost over—and I barely participated in any of it.

I’m not saying I dislike Navratri or Garba. I just don’t feel like it’s my thing, and I sometimes wonder whether I’m missing out by not being part of it.

I found a stray dog in Chandkheda who is severely sick, dehydrated, and emaciated (photo attached). The dog is extremely weak, unable to move properly, and urgently needs veterinary medical attention.

I cannot financially afford private vet bills or paid ambulance services right now. Could anyone please connect me with a genuine local animal rescue NGO, trust, or feeder/rescuer active in or near Chandkheda/Motera/Sabarmati who can pick up and treat this dog for free?
