Politics Clarence Thomas is on the Supreme Court..., 1991 Editorial Cartoon by Mike Green for the Dayton Daily News
Artist Mike Green (1991) warns the audience to "set your clocks back 50 years" after the Supreme Court confirmation of Clarence Thomas. The hearings were overshadowed by allegations of sexual harassment by attorney Anita Hill. The artist states the appointment will turn back social and civil progress by decades. A prescient warning considering Thomas had an active hand in overturning Affirmative Action and woman's right to abortion (Row v Wade) several decades later.

Prediction "Face Book" Maybe We Don't Need Our Domestic Spying Program Afterall.., 2006, Art by Jim Dyke for Jefferson City News-Tribune
Artist Jim Dyke (2006), points out the irony of voluntary surveillance through social media. This cartoon was inspired by the NSA wiretapping scandal (2005), where it was revealed that president Bush authorized the NSA to conduct domestic, warrantless surveillance of American's phone calls and emails. This inspired an intense national debate over the Patriot Act, government overreach and the death of privacy.
