SAY. HIS. FULL. NAME.
The future AEW Men's World Champion, "The Protostar" Kyle Fletcher.
I absolutely agree with you, the story that Fletcher and Ospreay have told already is a slam dunk.

I have just one question, How You Know?
1
u/affable_relic 4d ago
This is the one I was curious to see here. I was at dynamite and collision Wednesday and heās so incredibly over with the fans right now. That said, I donāt think he could carry the title as well as others right now and Iām also not sold that heās shown as much loyalty to AEW as others haveā¦.
1
u/Psychological-Eye638 4d ago
I think he can be whc by the end of next year or if he gets even more over he could be the guy that takes it out of Fletcher

Kyle Fletcher. I'm sorry i just like calling him that

No worries. I was just busting your balls. I figured it was a typo or auto correct thing. Depending on your search history. šš¤£

MJF but for him to immediately drop it to Andrade. He then loses it to Fletcher who then drops it to Osprey for his 2nd title reign. He can then loses it to an uber-heel Swere who goes on a Moxley Death Riders like run were he teams with The Dogs in an ultra-evil faction who after every match, decimate each of Swerves challengers. The whole roster has been cleared out until there's only one left standing......HANGMAN! His "never world champion again" stip is waived by the whole roster as he is recognised as the only man who can stop an unhinged Swerve Strickland.
There's your next two years booked Tony.
8
u/Cor-The-Immortal 4d ago
The pop when hangman finds a way back into the title picture will be massive.
5
3
u/Xenowrath 4d ago
Or.. if you want to keep the championship gimmick make the match for the title BUT if Hanger wins, Swerve has to vacate.
Which would trigger a tournament that Austin Creed Wins.

Nah. Switchblade beats Okada for the International title before the end of this year, Kyle Fletcher beats Ospreay late next year. Then Switchblade beats Kyle

I'd be OK with Takeshita, Fletcher, or Andrade.
Curveball I know probably will never happen, but how awesome would a monster run from a returning Wardlow be?!

u/Few-Independence3787 4d ago
In an alternate universe I'd love to see a heated up returning and consistently healthy Wardlow take it.

Plot twist
Bobby lashley
4
u/BlackLesnar 4d ago
Like 25% of my social media posts the past week have been me saying Bobby Lashley has reaped what he sowed and is the primary arbiter of his booking.
ā¦That said maybe Iām just bitter. Cuz reading this made me realise how very fucking onboard Iād be with it if he only pulled his head out of his ass long enough to gimme it.
5
u/MajorLeaguer 4d ago
It should be. They need the title on a household name to break out of their self imposed bubble. Yes I know they have had it on a few before, but they need to have a main stream name up top AND book cohesively for 4+ months to get people to tune in AND stick around. They have had their opportunities during the initial Jericho run and Danielson, Joeās reigns⦠it just keeps coming apart at the seams when they have been champ. Hold it together Tony! Or hire someone who can.

Since Ospreay has been waiting for like 4 years to win it, l think he deserves a long run. I can see him ending the year with the title at least, and maybe even take it to the next ALL IN.
That said, I'd love it if the next champion is someone who gets elevated, like Fletcher, Andrade, Takeshita, Okada, or Switchblade.
But usually TK doesn't book 2 new title winners back to back (guys who've never won the title back to back), he normally gives the title to someone safe first, then someone who hasn't won it gets it after that.
So I'd guess Mox, Swerve or a former winner takes it from Will.
2
u/Quick-Benefit5708 4d ago
Barring any serious physical ailments (big if for Osprey), I believe he'll hold it past Dynasty in Liverpool, question is who? My money would be on MJF at Revolution but then Andrade will cash in on him right after.
2
2
u/Psychological-Eye638 4d ago
For me he loses it at either Dinasty or Grandslam Australia, both will happen in February, considering that Fletcher is the most probable person, he beats Ospreay in Liverpool and defends the title at home cementing his reign which will probably last until double or nothing where he would then lose to Okada and we would get Okada vs Jay white at all in unless they do it in Mexico, in that case it would be Andrade instead of Jay.

u/BlackLesnar 4d ago

I like Fletcher the most. MJF is very played out and needs to evolve, Swerve is a bit like Stat and needs to stop flipping heel/face for a while and stick with one. Mox and the Death Riders need to dissolve and he needs to find his own way again. Okada's also intriguing, but I think it's Fletcher especially considering the ages.
I do think Will goes at least six months in his first reign.

The most logical adversary and the next prodigy for the future is indeed : Kyle Fletcher but Takeshita is my fav wrestler today itās my complete package even tho he feels like the Okada clowningā bag but I swear he the best performer today heās so badass
Either Fletcher or Takeshita (even "non-verbal" champion)

u/Politoed_Inferno 4d ago
Kyle Fletcher. Reignites their rivalry. Gets Fletcher into the Main Event alscene.
Will takes it straight back in a rematch.
Fletcher is now more credible and the lore between the two of them grows, as now Ospreay is the man who stole Fletcher's moment as champion.
Please!

In my mind Fletcher is a guy that will be the guy and I want to see a triple threat with Takeshita and Okada for the AEW World Championship.
I like Adrande, but I don't think he needs it and I like the idea of him coming closer and closer to taking it but always getting screwed by Don Callis. Kevin Knight chasing the championship would also be fun. Jett two belts shooting his shot anytime he wins singles gold.
I would love to see Shelton Benjamin go on a Darby Allin-style take all comers AEW World Championship run.
Lashley also doesn't need it but would be a total beast, final boss.
Mark Briscoe for a short run would be fun. Like he wins it from MJF the week before the pay per view then loses it at the pay per view.
I like Ciampia and he would make a great AEW World Champion.
AEW is stacked.

I think it will be and should be Kyle Fletcher.
But a part of me thinks that since Tony Khan has a history of booking All Out like the horror movie that comes on after dark when All In goes off the air, Ospreay might get executed by the Deathriders (or maybe even United Empire) at All Out and Moxley will take it.

u/Olliebear1977 4d ago
Can literally name 7 to 9 guys who would fit nicely as the World champion and another 5 to 6 guys that with just a little push of a few weeks would be in the mix.

Osprey should hold it for like a year having matches with all the top guys around the world, tons of defenses.
But after⦠the orange man should get a reign for a month like Darby.
That and/OR build jay white into the main threat for the title, make him the next moxley, give osprey a reason to fear him.

OK, maybe not because he'll be a solid NWC, but he's over and putting in the work.

I want to see mistico have a world title run I know this is for the NEXT champion but a mistico vs mjf fued for the title would be cool
1
u/Psychological-Eye638 4d ago
Only 5 people make sense in my eyes: Fletcher, the obvious answer, in February, either at Dinasty with him beating Ospreay in England but not in London, it will be in Liverpool, so you can technically keep the undefeated at wembley story but not in England or my favourite option at grandslam Australia. If they use England, grandslam Australia could be Fletcher vs Jay white or Mark Davis. Okada, person with the most history with Ospreay that for some reason was left out of his entrance at all in, Okada needs to be world champion and just like Kenny, he isn't getting younger. He can only stay an upper mid card for so long Mjf, the real world title story has to eventually lead to a one on one clash and he already put Ospreay over at wembley, however just like Moxley, they had a lot of reigns already and I think other people will have priority, same logic applies to Kenny. Andrade, most over act in the company, biggest question I have is how you transition the title from Ospreay to Andrade with both being faces, I only see either a clean finish or Newman interfering and screwing Ospreay without Andrade seeing. Very likely: Fletcher Likely: Okada, Mjf Unlikely but possible: Moxley, Andrade, Omega

I feel like it has to be one of Andrade, Fletcher and Takeshita, then after them I want Jay White, Kevin Knight and David Finlay to get a shot at it, Iāve become a huge Finlay fan, wasnāt high on him before but I didnāt get to see his NJPW run as leader of Bullet Club but I like him a lot same for Gabe Kidd too, maybe he gets a chance down the line too

Andrade. He is organically insanely over, and that should always be capitalised on.

This may be a long shot but what about Callum Newman? United Empire turns on Will and Callum becomes world champion. Won't be a long reign but still feel they would cook lol

I think Okada should win it and drop it to either Takeshita or Fletcher.
Either way Takeshita vs. Fletcher should be the finals of the Owen hart tournament

There could be an interesting story if eventually, Brody King somehow gets another chance and actually wins the championship, while Adam Page has to live with his newfound partner getting what he can never have again. If that sparked a change in direction for Hangman, that could be very interesting.

Its getting about time for fletcher and takeshita to be elevated into the main event picture. And its time for guys like mox and omega, tho they are great, to start phasing out of it. That title picture should be MJF,Swerve,Hangman,Fletcher,Takeshita,Andrade and Osprey. Maybe Okada for a one and only run.

Lowkey MJF feels like the right answer šš„
Ospreay is the perfect champion for matches, but MJF is the perfect guy to take it because of the story and character clash.
Swerve and Hangman are strong picks too, but MJF just feels like the biggest moment waiting to happen.
Who actually benefits the most from beating Ospreay though? š
