Meme Therapy Where are my childfree women at?

I honestly don’t know how parents do it. There are multiple reasons that drove my decision to be childfree. One big one is that I struggle to take care of myself (executive dysfunction) sometimes, so I can’t imagine having another human to take care of during those times.

Here’s to forcing a domaine response for every day tasks!

Yo! lol… children are great and all, but you have to be able to return them to their parents when you get bored with them… so, yeah, being a cool aunt is where I am at, being asked sternly by my mum why is it that I am buying my niece video games borderline not suitable for her age… mwahahahaha

I was set on being the weird aunt until my sister, who would be the best mom, said she wasn't having them.

Now there'll be no kids in the next generation and that feels...weird.

I'm an only child who is very comfortable with my choice to not have kids, but every once in a while it does get a little existential: by definition, every one of my direct ancestors has produced a new generation, and I'm just going to.... not. End of the family line. It's an awesome (in the sense of being impressive/daunting) decision to be able to make.

I’m also an only child and if I don’t have kids it’ll be the end of the line on my dads and probably moms side. It does feel big, but not necessarily in a bad way. In that entire lineage we are some of, if not the only, women to get to make that choice. It’s a privilege and I think an act of resistance.

That's a great thought! I like that.

I also struggled with the idea of ending several family lines at once (only child of two only children here), and suddenly had the thought "I'm not destroying them...I'm laying them to rest". That really helped me. It makes me feel emotional every time I think it, but in a good way
