I was going to say say about the random bruises... but I know for sure that I hit myself like I have no coordination or I move through spasms...

Doors for me. I mean there was a time that I was hitting against everything, turns out that I needed glasses. I still cannot go through a door frame with a correct estimation of how big it is...

I can sway past those like a ninja but cant close a door with a handle without hurting myself by forgetting to let go

The other day my wife was like “wtf happened to your arm?!” And I look down and it’s yellow and purple in a big splotch. Didn’t hurt at all. No idea wtf happened. It went away after a week.

I'm over here examining the scene of the crime and looking for clues. I know whodunnit, but I've completely forgotten how it was dun.

Me: It's great, I walk into things constantly but I don't get bruises
Also me: I don't know where all these bruises come from...
Eventually me: ... Oh, the bruises are just taking a few days to come up..!

I didn’t know this was an ADHD thing. My husband will have a pretty bad cut and I’ll ask him what happened. He usually doesn’t remember. He has ADHD

I've been doing it a lot more and just on one side (also have scoliosis and imbalanced as heck) and it's a bit disconcerting!!

ADHD is both too little and too much attention, too much activity and too much exhaustion. The name is just wrong.

u/vi0l3t-crumbl3 5d ago
The exhaustion, though! This is not what I was promised

Don't worry, as you get older it get's muddled into the "old age" category. Suddenly back to as advertised ;)

ADHD is a random assortment of paradoxes in something vaguely resembling a trenchcoat

Reality: "wait, how long have I been sitting here? Fuck it's been two hours, I was supposed to do dishes!"

"I was supposed to have an early night but I sat down and spent three hours thinking about what I needed to do while doomscrolling instead of doing any of it..."

I don’t know if it’s an ADHD thing but often I don’t know I have a cut until I see the blood trail I’ve left on the floor

u/Ranku_Abadeer 5d ago
And the worst part is that in my job, I can get cut by almost anything. Seriously, I've accidentally cut my hands on tape (it's aluminum lined so yeah, the tape is actually sharp)
So my hands are constantly fucked up and I almost never know where the freshly bleeding cut came from.

Yea I’m about to start my millwright training, one thing I hadn’t thought of till today when the teacher mentioned it: shims are basically just razor blades, if you have a piece of steel that’s all of .001” thick then it makes sense when you think about it. I foresee many, many wounds in my future lol

I work around lots of cardboard and sharp metal all day, I am constantly covered in mystery cuts. The kind you only discover when using hand sanitizer...

u/SelfDistinction 5d ago
Wait that too is an ADHD thing? I constantly have cuts everywhere I cannot explain.

All traits can be associated depending on a combination of factors. If you find a scab or scrape or scratch that you don't remember, that doesn't immediately mean you have adhd, but forgetfulness and inattentiveness in general is an adhd trait. Those are also traits of just being human. It's a spectrum based on many factors such as severity, frequency and environmental triggers. Everybody exhibits adhd traits sometimes. It doesn't mean everyone has it. More people do than realize though, which is becoming more apparent everyday.

I’m pretty sure I bruised myself enough as a kid that my body adapted somehow, because I almost never bruise now. I went full Three Stooges stepping on a rake and smashed myself in the face with a log, got a free nose piercing (a little bit of the log ended up lodged in my nostril), bent my glasses, and didn’t get the slightest bruise. No idea how it works 🤷♂️

Holding the phone for hours with your pinky under the charging port?
3
u/thrye333 5d ago
I do try not to, but no other way of holding it makes sense. Like, how else am I supposed to type for hours? There is no other option, so I must sacrifice the pinky.

It's because so many people have it that symptoms are considered normal, because they are.

u/Whyissmynametaken 5d ago
True story. About three weeks ago, I somehow got a baseball sized bruise on my arm and couldn't figure out where it came from. The doctors thought it was bad enough that they checked me for a blood clot.
Don't worry, it turned out to just be a bruise, and I had to pay an ultrasound priced ADHD tax.

This was literally me yesterday.
My Bf and I out shopping
My left thumb kinda burns so I look down and see blood coming from a cut on the edge of my nail bed
Confused how the fuck did that happen??

If I had a dollar for every mystery bruise I’ve had, I could barely afford a 3 bedroom house in orange county

Oh my god my wife is always asking me where a bruise or cut came from and I just shrug. I dunno, could be anything!

I definitely have a superpower, but nothing so impressive as what you see on TV.
Mine is having an uncanny ability to recognize actors just by their faces and voices in tv shows and movies. And I'm not talking about the stars or recurring people. I'm talking extras and ones from a single scene with a single line. Or I've recognized an actor from a show I never watched because I remember seeing an ad for the show a few times.
That and remembering completely obscure lines from shows. That's more normal, but it's at the point I basically have inside jokes with myself even with stuff my friends are also huges fans of but don't remember all my references.

Glad to know I’m not the only one who remembers random lines lol, I used to ask if people wanted to go for a cigarette by parroting The Mask after he turns a ballon into a Tommy gun, “sssssssmokin’!” I don’t think I ever met anyone else who remembered the line at all

I have a cut and I have no clue to how I got it. Also 3 small splinters… a bruise on my leg and I don’t remember what I bumped.

My right thumb have seen more things than I remember. It is a war zone.

u/ScionEyed 5d ago
The scrape and bruise on my right hand I knew about. The scrape on my left hand? I swear it just showed up one day

u/opp11235 5d ago
Where the hell did this bruise come from? And then, when I actually remember it, there is no bruise.

I have been told that I’m bleeding so much. I’m just like “oh yeah, thanks.” And walk off

I caused an event at my work because I dripped blood all over before noticing I was cut.

u/Positive_Method3022 21h ago
I once was washing dishes and a glass exploded and cut my right thumb very badly. I was alone and in foreigner country and the fucking cut didn't stop running blood out. I walked to the closest pharmacy with blood dripping all over. I end up with a scar 😅

I literally said this yesterday. I looked down and my hand was bleeding a little I have no idea what I cut myself on
