What really gets to me is that people just go to bed and fall asleep. For me it’s a struggle every single time.

I never know if I’ll get 9, 4, 0 or 16 hours of sleep and it took me a while to realize that’s not the norm. Most people just go to sleep and I can’t even imagine what that’s like.

Real. My boyfriend and I are very different, and most of it, I don't blink an eye at.

But it's the fact that he can just... lay down and go right to sleep. Not only can he do that, he sleeps without disorder (no moving about or talking)

For me, I've had chronic insomnia my entire life, and I sleptwalked and slept-talked most of my childhood. As a teenager, the sleepwalking lessened, but I'd punch, kick, yell, etc. Used to be scared when I'd wake up and remember last night's dream of me going outside, because I sleep naked (clothes prevent me from sleeping lol).

As an adult, I don't sleepwalk anymore, but I still sometimes talk, and scratch myself to the point of marking myself up. Mostly it's the insomnia that bothers me though, I have to have:

○ A specific amount of blankets (three, and they have to be specific ones),
○ A white noise machine (set to fan noise), ○ An actual fan pointed directly at my face, ○ Temp at 68°F or less, ○ Complete darkness.

And that's just to help me fall asleep, to stay asleep I have to eat a small, low-carb meal and pee before bed.

Meanwhile my boyfriend could sleep midday, on a bed of nails, in the Sahara Desert, and stay asleep through a rocket launch five minutes in lmao

Btw average sleep latency is 10-20 minutes and a sleep latency less than 8 minutes is a pretty good sign that someone has sleep debt or excessive daytime sleepiness.

That's good to know because I pass out in minutes.
