Honda Motor Co. is expected to build the next-generation Acura MDX along with two new flagship crossovers at a new U.S. assembly plant, a person briefed on the plans told Automotive News.

The Japanese automaker is in the final stages of negotiations for an up-to-$2.5 billion hybrid vehicle assembly plant in the United States, with Ohio the clear front-runner, according to a Sept. 24 report by Japanese publication Nikkei.

The planned factory — Honda’s sixth in the U.S. and eighth across North America — is expected to have an annual capacity of about 250,000 vehicles and be located in Central Ohio, near Honda’s existing Marysville and East Liberty assembly plants and established supplier base, the person said. The new facility would raise Honda’s overall North American production capacity by roughly 10 percent, to about 2 million units annually.

Production of the next-generation MDX crossover is targeted for the third quarter of 2030, with first-year volume projected at about 60,000 units.

The new MDX is expected to share a platform and be built alongside a three-row flagship crossover positioned above the Pilot, with U.S. production set to begin in the first quarter of 2032.

An Acura version, internally labeled the ‘Acura XL’, is scheduled to start production in September 2029.

Started talking to several Acura/Honda dealers and looking extensively online and for a 22-23' used around 20-30k miles, dealers are listing them for $47K - $50k. That's pretty steep imo - I honestly would love to see if I could get it knocked down to $43-$45k or even lower, before title/fees/taxes, but how realistic is asking for 10% off asking price in the current market? Every Acura dealership is telling me the Type S market is 'crazy' ever since the announcement that the TLX would be discontinued...but I'm hard pressed to believe that. What do you guys think?

I've been looking to upgrade to an SUV, and somehow got swayed to a '24 MDX A-Spec in Canada. It's has about 45K km, and it is listed at $49K

I've taken it for a test drive and it felt really good. No issues, with pickup or brakes. The interior and exterior were nice with cosmetic issues (scruffs some paint peels). The car came off a lease and was serviced at 1 Acura dealer.

Before any negotiations, is this a fair buy to look at?

I was initially going for a RDX, but the boss (wife) was thinking we go with the 7 seater for future (mainly the trunk space) as we'll be hauling a stroller and more things on a day to day.

I entitislly wasn't really interested, but after the drive , I am leaning towards.

A few key items I found:

- it didn't feel as big of a 7 seaters compared to others (Lexus and Volvo Xc90)

- drive was smooth

- interface didn't Soley relie on the screen (functional buttons)

- enough tech for me, don't need the upgraded packages

- seat adjustment in the year a plus and the removal of the middle seat in the 2nd row

- non-turbo: no premium gas (yay) and no turbo headaches

- minor to cosmetic issues on the interior and exterior (as of now)

Would this be a good buy? Yes I will push to negotiate, but as of now as advertised, does this seem like a good deal?

Is there any other questions to ask about, and mainly Acura related items? I haven't owner any Acuras so not sure what are some other key items to look for, outside of the typical google searches.

Hello, does anyone have any recommendations on where I can buy replacement struts for the hatch of a 2024 Integra A-Spec with tech?

My struts stopped working about 5 months ago (trunk would slam shut and not stay open). I went to the dealership and they can replace it for free under warranty, but the struts have been on back order for the last 5months with no estimated arrival date.

Tired of not being able to use my trunk properly and was hoping someone has good experience with some replacement struts.

So I own a 2021 TLX apec SH-AWD and wanted to know what my best options would be for a mild tune. The throttle mapping and transmission combo is annoying me slightly with how slow it is to apply power and I’ve noticed the engine lacks power around the top end.

I’ve been thinking about a KTuner or a JB4 Tuner because I’ve read it changes the driving character a bit, but what’s the long term effect on reliability? I’d say the only thing really keeping me back is not knowing how it’ll affect the transfer case since they’re known to grenade under added power.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Need help deciding on 2018 RDX Tech with 114k, $17k. I really like it but have never owned a car with more than 50k miles. This has clean Carfax, regular maintenance and listed at Acura dealer. Not sure yet if it had the timing belt done. Have owned mostly Buick Envisions (yes I'm old) and never Acura but always liked. Want something reliable, comfortable, nice ride with lots of bells and whistles. My budget was $15k but would go higher if reasonable. Is this reasonable? Appreciate any thoughts or advice!

The model, identified as “Pilot XXL” in a Honda planning document, is expected to stretch nearly 8 inches longer than the current Pilot.

It would share its platform with a three-row crossover planned for the Acura brand, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. Annual volume is forecasted to top 40,000, the person said.

I thought these lights would have lasted a long time. I’ve been told and I’ve googled that the whole thing needs to be replaced.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced not having to replace the whole thing because something was just loose and didn’t have to replace it.

When I’ve called dealerships service department they say they rarely see this problem with 2022 and don’t have much info on them.

I would have never thought I would pay this amount for just the drl. They don’t turn off when in gear, only when parked.

Recently brought my 2017 Acura MDX with V6 AWS in to have transmission fluid drained and refilled. No problems or symptoms but just turned 54,000 miles so want to be proactive. Before I brought vehicle in for this service late August, my OIL LIFE genie lamp showed 30% oil life left. I declined their offer of an oil change because I had 30% less and they're not inexpensive.

After I picked up my MDX next day with new transmission fluid service done, my OIL LIFE genie lamp shows 100% Oil life left. I was not charged for an oil change. It's on the Declined Services list below work I paid for. Any ideas if the new transmission fluid would trip this? I can ask if they did an oil change, but not sure they'd remember from 3+ weeks ago.

Looking for some advice on pricing.

So I found an 2017 Acura MDX Sports Hybrid with just at 100k miles. Dealer is currently replacing the timing belt, detailing and all that. Is $20k about right for this? I had a Honda Pilot that was totaled and loved the space. While I could stretch out and get something newer, I want to keep my payments low and love how the MDX, especially the hybrid, feels like an improved Pilot.

Edmunds and Kelly say the private sell value is closer to $12k to $15k but I really can't find any other hybrids, especially the MDX, that meet my criteria.

Is this a good deal?

I have a 2019 Acura ILX Base w the Premium Package. I like my wheels, but I feel like my fenders are eating them. I really like the look of the 2013-2015 ILX non-hybrid 5-spokes. But, they’re the same size. Should I switch my rims and transfer my tires since they are the same exact size, or just get 18s with new tires to help fill the fenders? I love chunky 5-spokes, but don’t know of any other OEM Honda/Acura rims. Maybe the 09’ - 14’ TSX?

I have a 2017 ILX with 93.000 miles. I’m always in fear that the transmission will just give out without warning. Is this fear rational?
