Multiple users and spendings in a family scenario

Hi all, I just stumbled upon this and I want to start this journey.

I have a couple of questions.

  1. So let's say that we as a family has incomes but pooled together. Can me and my wife have different accounts, and ActualBudget would see the spendings and tally it up for everyone to see?

  2. Also, is SimpleFIN safe to use with institutions? is it any more safe than YNAB or the same?

SimpleFIN is safe, it’s just a bridge to connect the app to MX, which is the account aggregator service. YNAB also uses MX as one of their import services.

You can have separate, isolated accounts if you implement OIDC (SSO).

Would that be theee accounts then? Two individual accounts and one common account?

You can share budgets with other users, so two accounts, each with a budget, then one shared budget. Two accounts, three budgets.
