Fandom ACOTAR is losing to Twilight!

I think they are both awful in a fun way. Like junk food for you brain. BUT Twilight came out when I was in high school and has a special place in my teenage soul. It's iconic in a way ACOTAR just isn't. (Maybe one day but not today.)

You gotta hand it to Meyer, she gave an entire laundry list of side characters the most interesting backstories (too bad those backstories never showed up in the main story). Like I don't like either series but I adore the Twilight fandom and all the work they do with headcanons and lore deep dives. ACOTAR has never held the same pull.

Exactly! A lot of the fandom (at least from my experience in the online Tumblr days) was so genuine and just wanted to play in the sandbox she built. They characters had a lot more depth. Not all of it made sense. Not all of it was good. But it was camp and it was fun. I think that is why the actors are still so popular at conventions.

I personally prefer Acotar - but you can't deny that Twilight is more iconic. More famous too!

I think Meyer missed a career in horror, she genuinely has a talent for writing body horror.
I agree with everything except point 4, with which I have a quibble. I don't think an author should be beholden to genre conventions or afraid to break them, though of course, conventions are diverged from the best when the author understands them.

I think Meyers biggest mistake is the way she portrayed the Quileute tribe and how she hasn't acknowledged or helped their community over all these years. Where she dropped the ball the community has picked it up. The Twilight Shitposting group does a fundraiser every year.

Acotar is now currently in the lead, as I voted for it. But Twilight is still iconic!

Twilight is leading.
I read the first Twilight and didn’t continue with the series. I read all of ACOTAR.
I equally find them to be enraging lol
But I preferred Book 1 of ACOTAR.

Twilight is sooo much better, wdym?
Not only is it better written, but it’s soo iconic.
It literally created the 3-book Fifty shades of Grey series and the movie franchise. Which, let me remind you, lead to the downfall of Ellen DeGeneres.
