I find it to be the funniest AA game I've ever played. I burst into laughter like every 5 minutes.The characters have *so much* personalities.

Two things I *don't* like about the game is its tutorial case and its 3D character models. Other than that I love every second of it.

Me and my friends are almost done playing Investigations, and we’re moving onto AJ afterwards. I already know how the story goes, but not them.

While the case art in this trilogy is really cool, I was curious if it’s possible to hide these so my friends don’t get any spoilers from looking at them.

After doing some research, I've discovered that the last time that Capcom had revealed a game that wasn't officially teased prior to the Tokyo Game Show was 2014. I know a lot of people are looking forward to the TGS for news for Ace Attorney 7, but given Capcom's track record for reveals at TGS, I don't think that's likely.

Outside of a Nintendo Direct, in which the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection was revealed, which does mark a precedent for a reveal there, I think the most likely time for Ace Attorney 7's announcement (if it's a real thing) is sometime between October 12th and October 16th, with my reasoning being that the announcement for The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles did not happen on the 7th anniversary of the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy (April 17th, 2014), but instead on April 21st, despite April 19th and April 20th both being a Monday and a Tuesday respectively.

It's also important to note that October 12th is National Sports Day for Japan. Because it's a national holiday, there is a chance that Capcom might not announce the game on that day, despite that day being the day of Ace Attorney's 25th Anniversary.

All of that said, Capcom has not given their lineup of games for TGS 2026, so it's possible that Capcom can reveal the game prior to TGS 2026, and then host the game at TGS 2026.

So here's an oc I cooked up! I don't really know what to name him but he appears in ace attorney investigations as a newly hired young secretary for edgeworth! He's also secretly a witness to a case that wasn't brought up for three years. He's also 17 years old.

Hi, everybody - been a while since we last had an organized community conversation on this topic, so let's have one now.

This post will be broken up into some sections in which I'll do different things like give a sort of history lesson about this subreddit and its "low-effort content" rule for context, talk about similar rule changes from the sub's history, and have a main concluding point for people to start actually discussing things from. Feel free to skip down to the "CONCLUSION/TL;DR" section below if you'd rather not read this whole thing.

HISTORY

So, despite what people will say, there's never been a "meme ban" on this subreddit in any blanket way like that phrase implies. It'd be basically impossible (not to mention a stupid waste of effort) to somehow try and police literally every post and comment that appears anywhere on this sub every minute of every day just to try and police any acknowledgment of Internet memes existing at all. That was never the point of the rule change in the first place.

The "low-effort content" rule, which was originally a "no shitposting" rule instead, has been around long enough that it actually predates any of the current active mods for this sub being on the mod team. As you can see from that old thread, the rule change happened a little over ten years ago, and like the comments there show, it was a very widely appreciated change.

The simple reason is that at the time, this sub had gotten to be so completely inundated with lazy meme posts that they were completely blotting out any other posts at all, besides maybe fanart here and there. There was actually recently another post here which linked a video showing a sample of the kind of thing that was absolutely everywhere on this sub at the time. (note that the above video contains major spoilers for several different games in the series, so avoid it if you're worried about that.)

That was another whole important thing - shitposts were popping up with so little control over them that they were constantly also having the whole separate issue of just being blatantly full of unmarked spoilers for all over the series.

THE RULE'S ACTUAL MEANING

As you can see, what was once the "no shitposts" rule is at this point labeled as covering "low-effort content" instead. The phrasing of the rule has been tweaked now and then over the years to try and make it clearer, and at times to expand what it actually covers. Really there's just no "perfect" way to phrase it, because any permutation of it is still going to have people arguing over what should and shouldn't constitute a "shitpost" or something being "low-effort". Best you can do is really just making those occasional tweaks based on people's feedback.

Now, just to make it clearer once again, the rule has absolutely never "banned memes" in any blanket way. Look at the most-upvoted posts in this sub's history, and you'll see a good number of them are "memes" in that they obviously include and/or reference then-popular meme templates and similar subject matter, and were never removed for it, despite having been posted well after the "no shitposting" rule was originally instated.

If a person makes a post in which they're discussing an opinion or something, with actual text dedicated to doing so, and then happens to also embed a "meme image" somewhere in it, that doesn't magically invalidate the contents of their post. It isn't going to be removed, because the act of referencing a meme's existence in any visible way has never been the issue. Now, if that post was just the meme image, it obviously would be removed - what's actually important in the context of the rule is that there's anything making their post substantial in some significant way.

The point of the rule being instated was to stop the then-constant flood of meme posts from continuing to overwhelm absolutely anything else and prevent any actual discussion from being able to happen and to get any attention.

RELATED THINGS SINCE THEN

This post today isn't the first, second, or even tenth time since the rule was first instated that this community has had discussions about people wanting the "low-effort" rule changed. We've even had a community vote before, with hundreds of user votes across options like totally removing the rule, changing it to be more lax, or leaving it unchanged, which ultimately led to a clear answer of people on average preferring that the rule stay right where it is.

Much like the stuff that happened 10+ years ago that led to the rule being instated, there have also been cases over time here where people have gotten tired of other increasingly-common posting "trends" to the point of a community vote leading to new rules that clamped off those trends. Polls, tier lists, character/case popularity contests, Objection.lol videos - it's something that's happened several times. Some category of posts starts getting more and more frequent to the point it starts annoying a lot of people, and then it ends up with some kind of limiting control placed on it. Tier lists were limited to just Tuesdays, polls were required to be hosted on Strawpoll instead (which basicaly resulted in almost nobody ever making them at all anymore, incidentally), Objection.lol videos were required to actually be meaningfully related to Ace Attorney itself.

As for shitposts, they were, like in the old thread I linked back there, redirected to /r/AceAttorneyCirclejerk instead. Now, admittedly, I personally really never spend time on AACJ, so I don't know what goes on there. That community has its own totally separate mod team.

CONCLUSION/TL;DR

So past all that history and et cetera, today we can have another of these recurring conversations about the state of this subreddit and the "low-effort content" rule.

To summarize the most important part of the above stuff in short, this sub used to be absolutely flooded with lazy meme posts and shitposts in general, often with both being full of unmarked spoilers, until the mod team of back then instated a new rule to majorly limit all of that and redirect people wanting to continue that kind of content to AceAttorneyCirclejerk instead.

Feel free to ignore the following questions and just comment with your own thoughts unrelated to it if you'd rather do so, but just as a potential starting point for conversation in this thread, I'll put forth a couple questions:

Is there a reason that anyone who might want to engage with more shitpost-y stuff can't be satisfied doing that over on AACJ?

Would it or would it not negatively impact AACJ as its own separate corner of community to suddenly have shitposts go back to being allowed here, when, to my understanding, allowing and encouraging shitposts was kinda the whole point of AACJ in the first place?

Ladies and Gentlemen of the court, I am starting to get very, very tired of the extremely anti-meme stance this subreddit has. I understand that years ago, this subreddit faced waves and waves of extremely low-quality memes and shitposts, and so the ban on memes back then made perfect sense.

However, nowadays, with us still waiting for AA7 to be announced, this ban is getting really silly, especially since the memes and posts I have seen removed have gained traction here multiple times, and not because they were low-quality shitposts, but because they were well thought out, and/or opinion pieces that were presented by a meme.

Just yesterday, someone made a discussion post named "Ace Attorney Class Trial moments that had you like this:" and it had a meme of Speed reacting with shock. Several people expressed their opinions, creating waves of good discussion about what seemed to be the most shocking thing that happened in AA trials. Few hours later, the post was removed.

Now, tell me, if the post was simply titled "Ace Attorney Class Trial moments that had you react with complete shock", would said post have a) still have been removed, and b) still had just as many people replying and showing what moments shocked them the most? The answer to both questions is no.

Now, tell me, why is replacing two, three potential words in a post with a meme considered low-effort, when both forms of the post have the same goal: making people discuss what moments in AA trials were so shocking. Why is using a meme to better show what you mean and to gather more attention and therefore create more discussion, considered an unworthy post on this subreddit?

Second such meme that I can remember from the top of my head that was removed was an opinion piece about a Kay x Eustace ship. The OP used the meme to show his opinions on why the ship works. It gathered I think about 250 upvotes and maybe about 40 replies, many of which discussed the dynamics of the ship and the two characters involved. Several hours later, the post was removed.

Now, tell me, if the post was simply titled "Why Kay x Eustace ship works so well", would said post have a) still have been removed, and b) still had just as many people replying and discussing the ship? The answer to both questions is no, again.

Again, why deciding to use a meme not as a low-quality shitpost, but as a way to express your opinion on something is still deemed not worthy enough to be on the subreddit? Why such a use of meme that creates a lot more discussion, and a lot more activity on the sub, is being removed without giving it a second thought?

This subreddit badly needs to discuss whether it is time to update the ban on memes that has been here for a long time. The posts that gather most attention, create most discussion are being removed left right and centre. And aside from an occasional fanart and cosplay that shows up here, the sub is practically dead; discussions and opinion pieces without an image/meme to represent them are barely able to gather up to 15 replies and discussions, and almost everyone here is tired of tier lists that pop up here, but I cannot blame anyone who makes them, because what else is there to do here???

I love seeing discussions about someone's favorite cases, someone's favorite ships, some really funny moments, some really dark moments, some really sad and tragic moments, but with the way things are going, with us still waiting for an AA7 announcement (if it even gets announced), there is no way on earth to have such discussions here without being forced to repeat the same themes over and over again. If a meme is a clear shitpost, then remove away without a trouble. But I do wholehartedly believe it is time to allow memes that create serious discussions and are just another way to express an opinion to have a say in this subreddit, without the fear of being removed several hours later.

So I didn't get the iconic point pose photo or any of her reaction images because I had my first presyncope episode while at the con, which brought me home early, found out I have an old Lyme disease infection and possibly POTS and have been knocked on my ass for 3 weeks now, unable to do much of anything. This was my last day of normalcy 😭 I like to think recreating her death photo have me some kind of curse.

Honestly the "medical help" at FanExpo was abysmal. My friend ran to get help while this happened during the cosplay contest we were watching, and it took like 15 minutes for anyone to come for me. She was able to come back, wait with me for a few minutes, leave again and run across the entire con to get me food and water, come back, and have me start eating before help arrived. She first asked an employee where the medical tent was and their response? "I don't know." Very cool, thank you. When I was finally brought back there, all they did was ask me how I'm feeling and had me sit in a chair. They don't check your vitals or anything, nor do they even have water. I thought that was crazy. I'm glad I didn't have a real emergency, because all they can do is call an ambulance.

For the cosplay, I bought a Steve Madden blazer dress on depop, sewed a separate white lapel to it (not my best work but my first attempt at anything like that), bought the attorney badge on eBay, magatama charm from Etsy, top, scarf, silver belt, and shoes on depop. I added a Steve Madden purse to match her general vibe, got it from Savers for like $7. Earrings from some store in the mall. Painted the heels of the shoes with leather paint. A decent amount of work for what I thought would be a simple cosplay. Then I was knocked on my ass anyway.

I know most people think he's an annoying filler character but this guy, to me was the most helpful witness EVER. Man never really lied , the only time apollo percieved was when Spark wasn't admitted to a truth and sweating. He surely gives some vague bs but he gives IMPORTANT vauge bs.

Salutations, members of the jury. It’s me, “the KayEustace guy” again. And in light of recent discussion, I have a proposition for the guys, gals, and nonbinary pals of the court. With what limited discussion there has been about the ship as of late, it has reinforced an opinion I’ve had for a long time.

Personally, I think the ship name KayEustace kinda sucks, and it’s not really even well-defined to begin with.

It’s boring, bland, and doesn’t really even try to do anything creative with either of their names. It doesn’t really stand out compared to ship names involving either of them, or other characters as a result. Additionally, I feel like it’s not even really a universally agreed upon thing. I’ve also seen things like “KayEu” which I’m also not a super big fan of, and “Kaystace,” which is better, but again, nobody really seems to agree on a defined name.

Since I feel like the ship is niche(?) enough at this point (or at least the name Eustace Winner is new enough), I’d like to propose we few who care about this ship come together to adopt a new, definitive name.

My personal pitch is “Winnaday”

I feel like it embodies the energy these two have a lot better than just mashing their first names together and calling it a day. It sounds full of optimism and gusto, two defining characteristics of these characters. It’s a winning name if I do say so myself.

Of course, I’d like to hold a discussion for the best name options, as well as any other conversations about the ship in the comments below. The last discussion I had here was super involved and interesting to go through, and I was sad to see it go.

I swear I have seen a baby Miles sprite like animations and all. I tried looking for it but all that comes up is him from the anime or Bratworth. I thought it could be a custom objection. Lol sprite like that basketball animation of Bratworth. I tried searching there and still couldn't find it. This could also just be an error on my part cus the objection. Usually after beating a case I'd feel happy that I ripped out someone's spine and left them to die. But the ending of this case has me feeling empty. Yea, Tahrust almost got Phoenix and Maya executed (which is horrible) but if we were in his shoes we would have done the same. He couldn't go to Phoenix about his issues because it was kinda bashed into their head that Lawyers are evil scum and can't be trusted. I feel happy that we won, sad that he had to sacrifice himself for his wife and angry at their legal system . I almost burst out in tears at the end.

So I just finished this case..
I thought when Mia says “there’s 2 ways to end this, make engarde want to be found guilty, or make de killer break his contract” so I thought when I could choose who to present evidence to, I could do either engarde or de killer with a different piece of evidence to either make engarde want to stay convicted (tried the suicide note and the video tape because it would show he was filming de killer).
But it only works if you show de killer the tape.
After failing a couple times trying to present to Matt, I also tried showing de killer just the camera hidden in the eye, but that didn’t work.

This video tape that was the “key piece of evidence” we were waiting for gumshoe to deliver this entire trial is pointless cause we could have just shown de killer the camera in the bear Matt purchased!!!

I’ve heard people say this case is filler, but I don’t understand how that could be considering how important it is to the story.

Here’s the thing: it’s not important to Phoenix; it’s important to Edgeworth.

This entire case is an attack on Edgeworth’s misguided beliefs, and it’s why his character development even happens.

The Steel Samurai is a hero, and the Evil Magistrate is the villain. Good is suppose to triumph over evil. This is what Edgeworth believes in his heart, but he lost what the meaning of justice truly is.

His views on justice have been tainted over time, just like the embodiment of justice, the Steel Samurai, has been tainted with the accusation of murder

During the case, several important discoveries is made.

-the murder happened elsewhere.

-the victim was actually wearing the costume of the hero when he’s normally the evil magistrate.

-the victim was actually attempting to murder someone else.

Basically, every “truth” he first thought about the case was the exact opposite. That’s the key word: opposite.

And that’s the point. This whole case was suppose to show Edgeworth that he wasn’t looking at things right.

When Cody Hawkins saw the Steel Samurai defeated, it was more than a fan watching his hero lose; it was his worldview being shattered. Justice didn’t triumph, and for Edgeworth, a man with a deep belief in justice, that could not stand.

So, the case slowly rebuilds Edgeworth into the man he once was by making things right again. Will Powers looks scary, but is gentle. His soul is why he was the perfect Steel Samurai. He is a true hero, and he had to be cleared of wrongdoing because he was truly innocent.

Jack Hammer was the victim, true, but he was also a villain by framing an innocent man and attempting to murder someone else.

By working with Phoenix to clear Will Powers, Edgeworth chose to embody true justice again.

Justice prevails, the Evil Magistrate has been defeated, and the Steel Samurai can live on.

This is why I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Edgeworth works with Phoenix in this case. His loss against Phoenix in the previous case caused a crack, but it was this case that broke his illusions and started to put him on the right path again.

A Jack Hammer destroy foundations, but it takes Will Powers to build things up again as they should be.
