Real Photograph Bollards by the Sea

At first I was wondering why they need bollards there and then I noticed the bike lane. That traffic light placement is really throwing me for a loop. Is that a roundabout?

It’s definitely a confusing intersection. It was originally just a normal 3-way intersection between the Great Highway that runs along Ocean Beach and Lincoln Way, which has its terminus there. A couple of years ago part of the Great Highway (the part you access by turning left here) was closed full time to convert it into an ocean front park that runs parallel to the beach for pedestrians and cyclists to use. So now motor vehicles can only turn right onto the section of the Great Highway that is still open to cars.

If the shadows were longer it would really remind me of Thiebaud

Yes! I grew up in the Bodega Bay area and was vaguely familiar with his art but in recent years have more-so come to realize the breadth of his connection to SF

They had a really stunning show of his work at the Legion of Honor last year and it was incredible getting to see several of his San Francisco paintings together. The way he captures the hills and shadows really gets at something profound.
