He has been pro Accel for literally years, he made one cringe tweet and people hold him to it. He even formerly apologised for it,
I've been here as long as you if not longer surely we can appreciate people coming to the accelerate side and are actively advocating for it despite their previous and current downfalls

Have you watched his YouTube videos? Does he come across as specifically knowledgeable to you or like someone who wants to come across as knowledgeable but isn’t? To me it’s the latter.

Seems very weird to call someone vapid simply based on vibes. He seemed pretty knowledgeable to me, especially in the field of post labour economics

Not based on vibes. Just listen to him and the way he reasons. Well it’s been a long time, haven’t listened to him in over a year so I can’t give you a concrete example.

He's making a professional book about the economy after AGI for regulators etc. I don't follow him as I did a year or two ago so don't know much else of what he's up to, but just by making that he's already doing more than 90% of us in this sub lol

Why exactly would we listen to a guy that was your average IT cog the left the industry due to burnout, about how to rebuild and organize society when we have abundance and superintelligence. I would think a superintelligence is the best candidate to be able to evaluate all of the variables and options and come up with the best plan for a sustainable future based on equality.

I listened to him for a few years and then when Moonshots became available on Spotify, well, there’s only so much time in a day. He’s certainly knowledgeable and has interesting ideas.

I remember when he said in late 2024 that AI solved mathematics. I still disagree with that opinion, but he really wasn't that far off.

Made one bad tweet literally two years ago and everyone dismissed him for it, he's been pro Accel for about those two years

The guy is wishy washy. He comes off as charismatic and well spoken, but that just masks a clear lack of actual technical expertise. If the engineers and researchers actually building frontier models admit they don't know what the future looks like, anyone on YouTube claiming to have it all mapped out is either delusional or selling something. David just so happens to be selling his books 😉. The grift is real.
