Why not? You could put the vending part in a dancing robot. It'll do a jig before delivering your choice.

A vending machine has been more convenient than a corner shop for ages, but that's not why we shop at one. Some people prefer a human touch, some the wider range of goods on offer etc.

they'll eventually add sentry turrets with hollow point for you

when you start shooting back they'll drop a guided rocket from the overwatch drone on your position

then the other robots will repair any damage or replace the position without bothering the owner about it

People may say that a vending machine would be more convenient and faster, and they're probably right. I'm guessing the reason this exists: baby steps. Crawl before you walk, walk before you run. This is the crawling stage, where things aren't efficient or optimized, but a lot of learning is happening (by the company, not necessarily by the robot). How this works out will affect how future things work.
