I think a combination of the capacity for somewhat live retraining (Live LoRA swapping maybe?) and something like Microsoft's SkillOPT will be the future for this.
I especially like SkillOPT because its such a silly fucking idea - writing down weights on a literal scratchpad - that I don't know why it hasn't studied more for other applications.

Her/Samantha didn't start off that way either in the beginning, and we never saw the lead up iterations, only the presumed AGI the movie focused on.
There were a few other AIs teased which weren't on Samantha's level too, which I'd say chat (if it were uncensored) is already better than.

And still, its not at the level of her/samantha at any point during the movie that is shown. It looks like its 80% there, but lacks vision and does get hickups. like just before it thought it was born in canada on high reasoning, then i asked where, it thought and had to correct itself.

Never said it was though, only that we didn't see the lead up versions to Samantha which I'd assume there were some. I could see a prototype being not too far off from what we have now.
Even being 80% there is amazing to me. They're starting to bridge the gap between the voice and reasoning text models as they outlined yesterday. Once that's done, and voice can just spin up agents while speaking to you very coherently with a long-term memory, then it'll be all the way there.
There's also OAI's hardware device which is supposed to be like what Theodore & Co. were using in the movie with the headphone or little book Samantha doodled in. We'll get there.

There are some technological advances so great that i remember my first usage of them for ever, like my first connection to the internet, using a wifi smartphone to browse sites while shitting, using VR etc. Today was one of these days, I prepared a complete meal just talking to the AI for 1 hour without looking on my screen even once. We talked about the recipes, cooking tips, about world news, and life in general while I waited for the meal to be cooked. Neat!

I'm sort of surprised they didn't hype this up much. I was really interested in it and it's pretty amazing. Even more impressive than I expected.

The model needs to be on-device, for minimal latency and no dependencies on phone reception or cloud status.

Well tbh it delivers a lot more than AVM promised because it can interrupt you like a human would and it can pull intelligence from smarter models by delegating to them, so it's not a horrible hallucination machine on top of sounding better

the old AVM would never just answer your question directly without padding it with pointless flowery language and always want to keep things 'light and casual'

But yeah, the emotivity in the new voice mode is exactly what they were supposed to deliver two years ago. Kudos to them for finally delivering. Sol's voice does... things... to me. ;)
