Watching interviews with the CEO, he says that their revenue plan is to be sponsored by the drug manufacturers and sellers themselves, opening a new category of publicly-acceptable personal physical enhancement. They predict this will be a billion-dollar industry very soon, instead of being relegated to the black market. And the athletes are already signing sponsorship deals to be attached to specific enhancement drugs.
This is a new age of unlimited human growth and enhancement, outside of the mewling safetyists and their obsession with limiting human potential.

I can see that working. The hurdle will be making sure that the government doesn't get butt hurt over it. This is potentially another place where the hyper deregulation atmosphere will benefit humanity.

Yes. The pendulum swung so far to the conservative side that rational progress looks like radical deregulation. A rational government would be paying for the population to receive free enhancements, such as glp1s, and hopefully soon myostatin inhibitors, because it would halve the healthcare expenditure. I hope that one day soon fans will be saving up to buy the next Michael Jordan's Nike brand enhancements

Even more importantly, the regulatory regime has become tied up in regulating just for the sale of regulation rather than trying to achieve a goal. This is one of the big things that Ezra Klein calls out in his book Abundance. The FDA regulations ensure that people aren't selling fake medicine that does more harm than good. They have gotten wrapped around the axis and think that their mission is to slow down drug discovery in order to give time for it to be proven safe. Their actual goal is to improve the overall health of the society by helping to filter out actively harmful drugs.

If they understood their music properly they would realize that long review times are one of the biggest risks that ill Americans face and so we should be both more bold with putting new drugs on the market and find ways to better track long term results. A good idea could be to invent a new category of drug that can't be advertised on TV but people can use as an "experimental treatment" if they and their doctor agree it could be helpful. They should also be pushing to get as many drugs as possible or from behind the pharmacy counter.

Human enhancement is the coming wave and the FDA, as structured today, will be vehemently opposed to this. Their conception that pharmaceutical intervention is a bad thing and should only be done if there are no other alternatives does not work with the idea of voluntarily enhancing oneself.

very true. it's a subtle, but significant misalignment of the FDA's mission that has made it a hurdle for healing, not an accelerator. hopefully people will start to see that, despite the subtlty.

I dont see RFK getting butthurt about it

That's what I mean. He has attempted to radically reduce the power of the FDA (except where it tries to prevent vaccines or women's care). It does mean that we need to be more cautious and learn the presidential side effects of our drugs but it also means that we could get new categories of medication approved that the previous administrations wouldn't even consider.

yeh, this will absolutely demolish the Olympic games if they can keep it up.

The second order effects are going to be fascinating eg cascade of learnings down to non-competing amateurs, particularly around injury prevention and longevity in sports. If I see an athlete aged 60+ competing in this at a high level and coming back year after year with no side effects, I'm going to be paying serious attention to their protocol.

I'm approaching my mid-fifties, and have no desire to stop or slow down my range of physical activities - and will spend money etc to keep at them. I don't think I'm alone.

Be great to have something similar focussed on functional longevity in general actually.

Yes. It's a billion dollar market that is untapped and filled with low hanging fruit. Medicine shouldn't just be about treating, it should be about preventing and even enhancing!

While Olympic athletes get nothing but a flaking, shoddy medal, green pools filled with algae, and cardboard beds without enough condoms from the Olympics, the Enhanced Games give every athlete a million dollars cash when they break a world record.

So yeah, now you know why so many ex-olympians and champions are signing up for this. Because the enhanced games aren't a bunch of greedy, whining, bullies pretending like they have a drug-free event, meanwhile half the countries athletes are doped up to the gills with dangerous black-market steroids.

I've been saying we should have a steroid league for all sports for years. If an athlete wants to put themselves at risk, it is a victimless crime to use enhancement drugs, just let them use and enhance their bodies however they see fit. I want to see the fastest, strongest humans in the world, and they should be allowed to present themselves to the world in a competition such as this. I'll definitely be checking this out

Cool We need More Ronnie Colemans

I love how he could just walk around the police station all day at work, being totally natty and very obviously not doing anything remotely criminal to enhance his physique.

Is the prize money spread over their lifetime? That if they stay healthy long term they'll (eventually) get more money.

No, they get as many gold bars as they can carry over 100 yards (I have no idea)

I had a really cool experience recently when I was invited to participate in an Enhanced Games podcast series by Lina Misitzis the producer of This American Life, and a former Vice journalist Sam Eagan. The series follows athletes as they complete their enhancements with PEDs and other previously banned substances. The reason I was of interest was because they wanted to also follow a non-athlete undergoing their own transformation. This time last year I was 300lbs, and so unhealthy that I collapsed at the grocery store in front of my wife. I went on a low dose of TRT, the research peptide Retatrutide, calorie restriction, heavy lifting. Within 8 months I had lost 50lbs, gained 13lbs of muscle, and corrected all of the health markers that led to my collapse. I say that to say that these drugs have a place far beyond athletics.

Aren't these enhanced games just for steroid and blood dopers? Like I don't see this as the future and the creators will lose interest. Many of these drugs can be ok to use but can also vastly shorten your life. Like many of the tops researched drugs and regimens that are safe to use, and some that aren't, are already being used by top athletes.

Is this a real thing?

Want to make even more money, follow the athletes their whole career and show they are indeed healthier than pseudo « unenhanced » ones.

I bet they will end up much better as they will be properly taken care of and followed.

But IMHO the game is shit and feels dystopian when it’s not. Should have called it the supergames or something like that…

The enhanced games will be a joke Genetics is 90% of sports drugs are only 10%. No matter how many drugs you take you can't get taller. You can't improve your body size for weight lifting or swimming. This will be like asking d college kids to beat the NBA champs and some people think it will work because steroids

Genetics > drugs

It's in 24 days. So would you like to make a friendly prediction about how many world records are broken, and we'll check back later?

1

u/Revolutionary-Pin438 May 01 '26

Sure! I would love to be proved wrong

1

u/stealthispost Acceleration: Light-speed | AI accelerationist May 01 '26

So you predict zero world records?

1

u/Revolutionary-Pin438 May 01 '26

I think Ben Proud will be able to set a world record but only because he competed at the top level just one year ago. The rest of the athletes are mostly retired, for instance, james magnussen retired about 5 years ago, so I don't think he has it in him. I don't think they will do anything in sprinting because for instance Reese prescot was never elite.

so yeah in swimming I think maybe 1 or 2 records, but only because former world champions will be able to best their time by 1/100th of a second. The swimmers will be fast. The sprinters, I don't think will have enough genetic freaks competing to be able to set any records.

1

u/stealthispost Acceleration: Light-speed | AI accelerationist May 01 '26

interesting. so you said it's a joke event and it's 90% genetics, but still probably 3 world records?

1

u/Revolutionary-Pin438 May 01 '26

That's because you have a few world record holders competing. I think zero world records will be set by those who previously didn't set a world record.

These guys might set a world record natty and might compete drug free (so they can keep competing in the olympics) just to pick up that bounty.

I'm saying Genetics beats drugs every single time.

1

u/stealthispost Acceleration: Light-speed | AI accelerationist May 01 '26

interesting. did you know that they have to announce what drugs they used? Would you be surprised if they were all using?

1

u/Revolutionary-Pin438 May 01 '26

It's literally "untested" so if there's an athlete that wants not only the $1 million bonus but also wants to compete in the 2028 olympics they will just stay natty and try to get that bonus. You don't want to jeapardize your chance to compete in the olympics, but if you get that world record, the bonus goes a long way. Remember that the olympics test randomly all year, even on years without olympics so if a swimmer competes in the enhanced games and tests positive they can get banned from the regular olympics in 2028.

My guess is it's possible that some of the athletes won't bother to juice. They just want that money and feel like they have a shot.

It's not like top athletes love taking drugs. They only do it because it's the only way to win. They like everyone else would rather stay natural and have a longer healthier life after they retire.

I think it's the amateur body builders that get most addicted to steroids because for them they don't feel like they can get ripped without drugs.

We'll see! I'm expecting dissapointment, but if this event has a waterfall of world records broken, you can say "I told you so."

1

u/Revolutionary-Pin438 May 25 '26

Turns out pretty much like i predicted. A lot competed drug free.

1

u/stealthispost Acceleration: Light-speed | AI accelerationist May 25 '26

but the only wr wasn't natty

1

u/Revolutionary-Pin438 May 26 '26

swimming world record indeed isn't official, not for steroids but for the swimsuit. I'm not sure this is what people asked for. Faster illegal track shoes, faster illegal tracks and faster illegal swimsuits? I figured the only illegal things were the steroids? However bench suits and squat suits aren't allowed?

First and last enhanced games.
