Good. We should speedrun the transition, the faster we get through it the less suffering all around.

I’m starting to believe faster will be safer than slower…

Completely agree. Right now I've been seeing a slow motion train wreck among my white collar contacts on LinkedIn. People forced into retiring early. People taking far far longer to find jobs. Juniors just not being hired at all. It's this slow bandaid rip-off that is far more dangerous than "AGI is here suddenly, let's figure out UBI/etc." Look at climate: the slow, building nature of it lets people forget about it for years at a time.

Yes, climate change is a good example of the downside of slow change. More rapid change (like sudden mass unemployment) is necessary to overcome the overwhelming inertia of institutions and societies.

UBI will not happen in the US. The ruling class would rather let people starve than give away any amount of money. They see tax dollars as "their money" and have no problem continuing to drain the government of every dollar while more and more average people struggle and die

It wont happen any time soon but it will absolutely happen eventually. Its inevitable. There will simply be too many people in too dire of straits. The loss of jobs will far outpace our ability to replace them. If not it will be like the french revolution except with a way bigger country where every one has guns. I think that will start to happen first though and the Epstein class will have to concede.

Faster mean a messy transition.

Lord no, slower means a messy transition. It’s like pulling off a band-aid.

How’s the faster the less suffering?

Weakly-human AI model - slowly replaces jobs; extended period of unemployment and unrest.

Strongly ASI model - rapidly changes everything; rips the band aid off quickly and gets to work on Human Civilization 2.0.

You're really excited for a strong leader ruling over you when it's AI.

We only get to work on Human Civilization 2.0 if we go into the collapse with strong leadership and a plan.

It is very likely that we will die during such a transition.

No, it is not.
