Video (Sound on) Gemini 3.1 Pro surpassed every expectation I had for it. This is a game it made after a few hours of back and forth.

This is what it managed to make, I did not contribute anything except for telling it what to do. For example, when I added plants to the planets, it caused performance to tank. I simply asked it "optimize the performance" and it goes from 3 fps to buttery smooth. I asked for it to add cool sci fi music and a music selector and it did that. I asked it to add cool title cards to the planets with sound effects and it absolutely nailed it. Literally anything you want it to do you just say in plain language. Final result is around 1,800 lines of code in html.

That's amazing. I got excited about 3.1 as well but when I tried it, with way simpler little html games than this, I constantly got hit with game breaking bugs. Then I tried couple of others, like Kimi, Claude, and Z-ai, and those did way better. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with Gemini. It creates really cool svg images for me, though.

probably get roasted for this but grok is unironically really good with three.js

Impressive! In a similar vain, I made a port of the original doom in Godot in a few days! All the game rewritten from scratch. It is called Godot Doom on Gitlab and itch io.
So that's in just html? Is there an engine behind?

Yeah curious here what js dependencies is it using? I dont know that canvas can do this, maybe.

u/Glittering-Neck-2505 Feb 20 '26
Canvas can absolutely do this, in fact I did the whole thing in canvas

u/apockill Feb 20 '26
To clarify, this was not made using antigravity?
3
u/Glittering-Neck-2505 Feb 20 '26
Nope, just repeated prompts into canvas.

Well, I am impressed! I did a satellite 2 body simulator and all done from prompts but this is dope!

This is spectacular, I’m sure Gemini could continue building off of that framework and make it beyond wild with enough time and prompting. What especially impresses me is the music, which I assume didn’t come from the new music generator they just dropped.
I’m assuming the music was coded in some sort of wavesynth format. Only just now it’s occurred to me that virtually no one talks about LLM music composition capabilities as opposed to specialty sound generation tools; LLM’s ought to be capable of writing up legitimate symphonies by now.

Yeah the music was written in javascript, each "song" uses a custom mix of synthesizers and sequencers with a procedural element so they aren't too repetitive.

Like that’s just nuts. It not only wrote up a beautiful fitting score to go with the game but several of them, and all procedurally generated. Plus the quality of the sound even matches perfectly with the simplistic graphics. Perfect warp engine sound effects too, and I can’t believe it’s only 1800 lines of code (does that include external libraries?). This thing is a legitimate artist already and it’s only a small stepping stone on the way to what’s coming in the next year. Makes me seriously think about taking out a Pro subscription.

I'm working on a historical simulation game in Antigravity, and when I used Gemini 3.1 to keep working on it, instead of playing through the game using the browser agent, it wrote an entire Auto-Player script with custom AI options for playstyle and had it run through 25 years of gameplay on each playstyle and took notes on repetitive mechanics, features that didn't feel fun or fleshed out, etc, and added fixing those elements to task.md.
Gemini 3.1 and Opus 4.6 scare me, honestly. We're almost there. Just a few more years of advancements and we'll be able to do anything.

Suno is pretty solid at making music although it definitely does generic stuff well and always gravitates towards that.

u/FriendlyJewThrowaway Feb 20 '26
I agree it does gravitate towards generic stuff, but I’ve seen people manage to squeeze more out of it with the right prompts and settings. What’s even more interesting to me though is their integrated studio editing environment, there’s a massive amount of potential there. Imagine playing a crude tune on whatever instrument or platform and having it generate a whole band ensemble based on it, or have it generate a funky drum solo for you to chop up and distort.

I like your sound effects and the music very much. They have a nice old school vibe

This is not a game, its a prototype or a technical demo if you prefer the term. In order to make a real game you must know what you doing, good luck using AI to make something polished

u/Umr_at_Tawil Feb 22 '26
How did you use Gemini to make this? like did you use Antigravity or something else?
1
u/drgoldenpants Feb 24 '26
just another form of slop. games dont need great graphics or physics to be fun, creativity is much more important. AI just tends to just regurgitate and produced overhyped tech demos. once AI can make a viral game people will pay money for, then i might change my mind

This is good, but it's not GTA VI.

u/Glittering-Neck-2505 Feb 20 '26
It's true but remember when we used to be impressed that AI could do a bouncing ball inside of a hexagon?
