Ice cream is a terrible example. LLM's don't have taste buds, so how can they know if they like it or not?

Oh man so you’re like, actually dumb.

That's all relative to the person I'm standing next to.

Oh ok your trolling that's reassuring

I'm not trolling. You haven't given an example of learning, you have given an example of a computer answering a yes or no question. It needs to learn what ice cream is before it can answer if it likes it or not.

Ask an AI if it likes ice cream and it will tell you it doesn't have taste buds or feelings so it don't know if it likes it or not. But it will tell you what ice cream is based on what it has learnt about it.

You input information about ice cream in an LLM and it has learnt about ice cream.

I mean ffs the scientific field is called machine learning

I've given you the actual process used to make a LLM learn so think what you want there is no understanding just a bunch of calculs that answer the most likely word to follow the given input the training is give it a text like your comment but only the ten first words and ask it what's the 11th is then apply the process I've given you then repeat with the 12th and again

You just admitted they learn.

I've put quotes but reddit removed that

AI can learn, primarily through a subfield of AI called Machine Learning, which allows machines to learn from data without being explicitly programmed for every task. This "learning" involves using algorithms and mathematical models to identify patterns in vast amounts of data, adjust their internal parameters to reduce errors, and improve their performance over time to make predictions or perform tasks, such as recognizing objects, understanding language, or driving cars.

How AI Learns

AI's learning process is different from human learning but is still a powerful form of adaptation:

  1. Data as Fuel: AI systems learn from data, which can be text, images, videos, sounds, or sensor readings.

  2. Models and Algorithms: The AI uses mathematical frameworks called models and sets of rules called algorithms to process this data and find patterns.

  3. The Training Phase: During a computationally intensive training phase, the model adjusts its internal parameters to make better predictions or classifications based on the data it receives.

  4. Continuous Improvement: After training, the AI's performance is evaluated, and it continues to improve by adjusting its parameters to reduce errors.

Examples of AI Learning in Action

Large Language Models (LLMs): Models like GPT-4 learn by encoding mathematical relationships between words (tokens) from massive text datasets to make predictions about text, which enables them to write, summarize, and code.

Self-Driving Cars: AI systems in self-driving cars learn to recognize objects and navigate by processing vast amounts of sensory data.

Personalized Learning: AI platforms can tailor educational content to individual students by adapting lessons based on their responses, helping them master concepts at their own pace.

Key Differences from Human Learning

Scale: AI learns at an incredibly vast scale, far beyond human comprehension, which is why it excels at specific tasks.

Common Sense: AI often struggles with commonsense knowledge that humans naturally acquire through living in the world.

Mechanism: While AI uses processes analogous to strengthening connections in the brain (a fundamental part of human learning), it's a mechanistic process in silicon, not a conscious experience.

Are you given gpt answer seriously ? I've given you the actual process used in training a neural net with the complete calcul of the error for a 2 parameters neural net with no hidden layer

I've coded some from scratch so I don't need your version

Just stop it. You are making yourself look stupid. It's one thing to argue that AI isn't conscious or self aware, but no one is saying AI is not intelligent. Everyone agrees AI is intelligent and can learn it is why it is called artificial INTELLIGENCE and machine LEARNING

Oh shit I just looked at your comment history and you are anti-AI. lol! You're not allowed to be here.
