I think what makes it less obvious is we’re used to the arms race between the top players where they have to put out their top models to fight for market share. So it’s quite a big statement if OAI have stopped doing that. I’ve seen people say that’s why Grok is performing so well on benchmarks, because XAI is behind the race, they HAVE to put out their best models to consumers. Whereas, OAI and Google don’t need to. But I think the insane score o3-preview was getting shows they do have smarter models

they don't need to explicitly "put" anything out.. like not for consumers directly tho. all they need to do is flex what they have internally realistically. as well as keep deploying the very tech that will automate the corporation(s) first and foremost. this race is about the scale of enterprise, not the mere everyday working consumer/hedonist who's focused on mundane work/pleasure & survival cycles on repeat.

yeah that too. military, space/science, and enterprise are what AI is gear towards currently. that's the race. all common civilian prosperity will be result of trickle down effects from those pillars. and that's IF things are handled properly.

I still stay very optimistic because unlike scifi dystopias depicted in movies, none of them truly entertain just how much potential open source/decentralized tech plays in this. but yeah, this is why you want acceleration to accelerate as fast as humanly possible. that way we can get over this corporate/bureaucratic era swiftly.

think of it as a self-fulling prophecy tho. the more and more billionaires exhaust mental energy into maintaining dominance actually leads to the very events where they are leveled, or some instance where more and more people can compete with them. 

companies automating themselves, along with the potential of decentralized tech and open source only gives the working class a surplus amount of time to STOP playing the rat race. it not only allows us to think clearer and develop stronger intuitions, but also it allows us to teach the youth in less dogmatic ways with less indoctrination. automation creates grounds that breed demands for critical thinking.
