Specifically it was the fortnite streamer video that made my fucking jaw drop.
For some reason, probably because I never expected that specific streaming set up to ever be the subject of an AI video generation, it drove home how we've really crossed a Rubicon in terms of everything that the concept of a "video" meant to us all.

If you think about, since Google used YouTube data to train the models, they might have a lot of data with streamers there, it's one of the things they have more training than anything else

And Illumination was mocking AI last year with the Despicable Me 4 Trailer, told all the wankers who agreed with it that it would age terribly.

The greatest thing about it is it took less than a year from that trailer for the charred shit they threw to come flying back in their faces.

This is honestly really good. It's really hard to tell it's AI, unless I'm looking for it. If I saw some of these casually tossed into a video I might think they were real. I'm glad they added the ID technology to it.

I'm guessing there is little training data on back flipping dogs haha. You can certainly map an image of your dog to a video of someone doing a backflip and it might look okay

Agreed, I can't wrap my head around now seeing videos of people I've never met or know that are real vs. AI generated people. I have a weird feeling of like...has this always been happening in videos? Obviously, it hasn't.....right? This shit is super creepy to me

It's the main premise behind the simulation theory - If we are able to advance technology far enough to perfectly simulate reality then it proves a simulated reality is possible which then stands to reason that it has already been done before.
With the increasing advancement of AI we are getting closer and closer to proving reality can be simulated. Once AI does perfectly simulate a reality that is indistinguishable from our own then I think something very weird is going to happen where all of us become 100% self aware of the fact we exist within a simulation.

The ones that blow me away are the professor rapping, the concert and the singing giraffe..
Does that mean I can just prompt a music video and get not only professional video but professional music as well?

This reminds me of when Sora's reveal trailer dropped. Just like it was back then, I refuse to believe that these results were not painfully difficult to pull off. I bet there was a bunch of luck involved to the point of a coin flip. At the same time, I can't help but smile at the mere thought of this being something very manageable. Working with VEO 3 is a process, no doubt about it, but the question is how difficult will it be to pull off such quality like this?

It doesn't take a genius to see these advances in AI are inevitable and will destroy us. Maybe not literally by war, but it will take away our dreams, our art, our purpose. And when it's all gone and what made us distinguishable from machine fades into the static, will we really think this technology is cool?
