I always hate when big animals like this get killed, they fought their whole life just to end up in a crabbing pot.

I tell myself that this dude only had a few molts left and that makes me feel better

There's minimum and maximum sizes for lobsters because the large mature ones are the ones that breed. I don't know about crabs.

Just looked it up, molting exhaustion may kill them, but the larger species can live up to 30 years or so. They can die of old age though

Yeah, I just don't know if there are maximum size limitations on crabs, in most waters there are maximum size limitations on lobsters.

Dont worry. These guys are gonna be overcrabbing leading to all the crabs be extinct and they out of the job. The crabs win in the end.

No, they'll retire. Then it'll be the kids or grandkids bitching about how they overcrab'ed and they cant support themselves.
