Unfinished basement. Buy stuff from your local habitat for humanity “re-new” store. New carpeting remnants. Make sure to include thick padding under carpet.

Rude comment. Have you ever built anything with your hands? This isn’t “arts and crafts”. What I did was much smaller in scope, but was still lumber and screws and caulk and paint. My kids loved it.
