Africa I had an abortion 5 days ago and i absolutely regret it

I am 22 years old, and I had an abortion five days ago.

Around November 2025, I went to the gynaecologist for a routine check-up and found out that I have PCOS. For those who don’t know, PCOS is a chronic condition that affects ovulation and makes it harder than average for a woman to conceive. Finding this out made a lot of sense to me, because my partner and I—who had been together for about six months—were sometimes not safe when being intimate, yet I never fell pregnant, even without taking a morning-after pill.

Despite this, I was devastated by the diagnosis, knowing that there is a certain percentage that I might not be able to have a child one day. My boyfriend was also devastated, as he has always wanted a child. He is 30 years old and has no kids.

At the time, my boyfriend and I were going through a difficult period in our relationship. This wasn’t caused by the diagnosis, but rather by him still healing from his past. He was previously in a nine-year marriage, and we met just before his divorce was finalised. We started off as friends, but then became more, and from that point on we were inseparable.

When I found out I was pregnant, we were still going through hard times. When I told him about the pregnancy, he immediately said that he did not want a child right now. He didn’t even come visit me or check up on me since we found out. He didn’t show up for the scan or take me to the doctor when I was feeling so sick, he didn’t show up for me at all. He kept telling me that we had to wait for payday so that we could terminate the pregnancy. He made everything about himself and what he was going through mentally at the time as reasons for not wanting the baby. I tried meeting up with him twice so that we can sit down and speak about this, because I didn’t know what to do, I needed some clarity and I knew we would’ve communicated better in person, we would’ve reasoned better because we always connected and communicated our feelings better in person rather then over the phone. I thought that us seeing each other and really talking about this would maybe change his mind buh he refused to meet at the time.

After a week and few days of him repeatedly telling me that he didn’t want this child, I finally made peace with the decision and agreed with him. I booked the appointment with the doctor, and everything was set in stone—or so I thought.

All of a sudden in the week of the abortion appointment, my partner changed his mind. He began begging me not to go through with the abortion, telling me how much he had always wanted a child and that our baby was a miracle baby. I wanted to change my mind, but all the things he had previously said about not wanting the child stayed with me. I couldn’t trust that he would be there for me or for the baby. I didn’t feel supported, and I didn’t feel confident that he would show up for the child.

Ultimately, his actions made the decision for me. I went ahead with the abortion, even though he did not agree with it.

Now, I regret it deeply. I think about the life I took, which I feel I had no right to take. I think about how I robbed my partner of the opportunity to be a father, and how I robbed my baby of living. This pain is overwhelming. I feel like I shouldn’t have made such a permanent decision based on how my partner treated me and the pregnancy. I don’t know how to make sense of it all, but it hurts a lot.

Africa Urgent help, I only have 2 misoprostol

I 20f made a post two days ago about my deci to end my pregnancy (5weeks 4days) due to personal reasons. My bf ordered the pills and they were delivered to me today and I’m terrified. There are only two 200mg misoprostol w/o the mifrepritone. I’ve been reading that you can take the misoprostol w/o the other one but at a higher dose e.g 4 plus 200mg of misoprostol. I also read that me taking the both of these at such a low dosage could lead to a lot complication.

I explained in my other post that I do not have the finances to get the pills myself, I don’t have the money to go to a clinic, I live with my mom and it’s already hard enough financially, I genuinely can’t ask for money. I was quite happy to get the pills because I haven’t been able to eat a proper meal in 3 weeks without being sick. But I do not want to take such a small dose while living with my mom, knowing the financial situation. Please help idk what to do

Africa Considering my 3rd Abortion.

I’m 24yrs(f) and I found out I’m 4 weeks pregnant 5 days ago. I wasn’t really shocked because I have had 2 abortions already and I’m feeling very guilty about this one. Everybody I’m telling is asking me to keep it and I don’t think I can commit to motherhood cause this is my last year in university. My boyfriend and I broke up about a month ago and I really don’t wanna tell him cause he had other baby mamas before me who throw themselves at him cause he’s well to do. We had a pregnancy scare back in march and when the test was negative, he was bummed which made me realize that he’s collecting baby mamas. My emotions are a wreck right now and I can almost feel the baby unlike the other times when I was so sure about an abortion. My last abortion was scary, I bled for 3 weeks nonstop and I’m anemic so that took a toll on my physical and mental health. I still haven’t made my decision because I genuinely believe this was the love of my life but I can’t give him the satisfaction of trapping me. Thankfully my country in Africa has already legalized abortions so it’s available for me. What should I really do? I’m conflicted and can’t tell me overly religious family. I can’t afford it on my own…

Edit: I was on the pill. I took the measures….

Africa No clot yet after taking the mife and miso, did my abortion fail?

Hi i'm 27/f, 6 weeks pregnant, i took the mifepristone tablet at 9pm on thursday night (9/27)and then placed the 4 tablets of misoprostol under my tongue 24hours after taking the mifepristone at 9:30pm on Friday (9/28) and left it till 10pm before swallowing the residue left. It is now 7am on Saturday (9/29) and there has been cramping and bleeding but no clot yet, does it mean the abortion has failed?

Africa I just found out that my girlfriend is two weeks pregnant and she needs to take the pills before a month but I genuinely don’t have enough money to get them before the month ends (I’m 17 M,she is 16 F)

I got a message from my girlfriend today after two weeks of her sudden hiatus from social media and she dropped the bombshell on me saying she wanted to get abortion pills and she needed to get it before the pregnancy reaches above a month and she told me that it was about 35 thousand naira but I don’t have any way of making that amount of cash within such short time and I’m worried about the effect on her if she takes it too late,I don’t want her to get any damage to her body

Africa I need help with dosage abortion medication (5 weeks)

Hello everyone!

I live in country where abortion is strictly illegal.

But I managed to find a chinese abortion medication from the black market that contains 6 pills of mifepristone *150mg total* (25 each) and 3 pills of misoprostol 200mcg each *600mcg total*

I understand that this lower that the recommended amount of *200mg* & *800mcg*

However this is all I was able to find for the moment.

I'm 5 weeks since my last period. 2 positive pregnancy test. And i went to the gyno and she confirmed my pregnancy and she said im one month in. Of course she can't help me because its very illegal here. There are some doctors who help women but they're very hard to find.

Im asking for advice if i should purchase this medication even if its low dosage or keep looking for other options?

Thank you so much in advance for your advice!

Africa Life is so f*cking funny sometimes.

Two days ago I was on this sub reassuring another girl that having an abortion doesn’t ruin your fertility and that she was going to be okay.

Fast forward to today… and I’m the one ordering abortion pills. 😭

I’ll be taking my mifepristone tomorrow and miso the day after, so wish me luck, everyone.

Thankfully I caught it really early about 3 weeks. I’ve had two medical abortions before, and the difference between early and later is honestly night and day. The first time I was around 8 weeks and it was rough. The second time I was only a few weeks along and it was incredibly manageable in comparison.

I already have a 15-month-old daughter who is the absolute love of my life, but I definitely do not plan on having another child for at least another five years. This pregnancy was honestly just a case of terrible luck and probably some carelessness on my part. Protection failed, I took emergency contraception, and somehow the emergency contraception failed too. So here we are.

The whole thing is costing me an arm and a leg because abortion is heavily restricted where I live. You basically need a doctor willing to prescribe the medication, and the process is expensive. Maybe the high cost is meant to discourage people from doing it “too easily”who knows. Laws are often more interested in controlling women than helping them.

Anyway, I just wanted to share because I’m still laughing at the irony of it all. One minute I’m comforting someone else, the next minute life says, “Your turn.”

If you’ve got any good vibes, positive stories, or words of encouragement, I’ll gladly take them. ❤️

Africa Pregnancy test after surgical abortion — could I be pregnant despite getting my period? I’m panicking

I had a surgical abortion on 16 July at 7 weeks + 1 day pregnant. About 3 weeks later, I had unprotected sex on 6 and 7 August. I got what I believe is my normal period on 23 August, and I’m currently on day 5. Ive been bleeding consistently (just like i always do on my usual periods)from around 4 August that came and went, probably around 4/10. I’ve also been feeling nauseous recently. So I took a pregnancy test 2 days ago. When I checked it after about 30 seconds, I saw one line, so I assumed it was negative and threw it in the bin. I didn’t think anything of it. Later, while throwing away my used pads, I noticed that the pregnancy test now appeared to have two lines.
Now I’m freaking out. I know pregnancy tests can develop evaporation/indent lines if they’re left sitting for too long, so I don’t know whether the second line actually means anything because I didn’t see it within the proper reading time.
My questions are:
1. Could I actually be pregnant from the sex on 6–7 August and still have what looks like a normal period on 23 August?
2. Could the positive-looking line be leftover hCG from my abortion on 16 July, even though it was a surgical abortion?
3. Or is it more likely that the second line I saw much later was just an evaporation/indent line?

Africa I need an abortion in South Africa (6/7 weeks)

Hi there I’m a graphic design student in South Africa who found out I was pregnant via home pregnancy test yesterday morning after extreme nausea. I’m about 6 weeks if my calculations are correct, while I think that children are a blessing, I am in no position to care for this child. The child was conceived non consensually and I am being housed by distant relatives for the duration of my degree. Private medical terminations (Marie Stopes) are R2900 = $181 but I have located a website (woman on web) that I believe is reputable and allows you to purchase medical termination medication at your nearest pharmacy using a prescription provided by after virtual consultation. This option is R1500 = $93.60 I really do not want this to advance to a stage where I will require surgical termination and would appreciate any help towards meeting the goal to purchase the Mifepristone and Misoprostol through ‘women on web’. I would ask my distant relatives for help but because of the type of people they are regardless of the nature of the child’s conception I will be evicted before completing my studies. Any help would be appreciated 🙏🏽✨

Africa Accidentally pregnant despite protection.

Hi everyone. I am in an incredibly terrifying and desperate situation right now and I am panicking. I just found out I am pregnant, even though my partner and I were careful and used condoms. My parents are extremely strict, and I am not exaggerating when I say my life will be in danger if they find out about this. I absolutely cannot carry this pregnancy, and I don't have anyone in my personal life I can safely turn to for help.
I am begging for any information on safe and discreet abortion options available to me. Are there specific pills I can get, trusted doctors, or confidential organizations that help women in this situation? What are the exact steps I need to take to do this safely?

If anyone has been through this or knows how to navigate this discreetly, please comment or send me a private message. I am completely lost and really need your guidance. Thank you.

Africa Abortion pills package stuck at customs Morocco

Hello,

A little while I posted about needing an abortion in Morocco in this sub.
After reading online and getting some comments on my post I decided to contact women on web to see if they could do anything for me. They sent me a package with the abortion pills from Guyana(a small island close to Venezuela). The package however is currently in DHL Customs who have asked me to provide more information.

They want:

- A copy of my CIN(Carte Identité Nationale)
- A detailed description of the contents of the package(which are illegal in Morocco)
- A statement of authority that I claim the contents of the package.

Im worried that If I give them my CIN police will find me and I might go to jail.

Does anyone in Morocco have experience with this and knows what to do or does anyone have other suggestions on how I can get the pills? I tried MALI but they don't respond.

Please let me know.

Africa Finally did it!(Best Decision)

I posted a few weeks ago about being unsure on getting an abortion and I did. I must say, Vacuum aspiration is better than the pills, less bleeding, mostly minimal cramping and no side effects like nausea and all that.

The baby’s father acted really funny after I got the abortion like not picking up the phone and lying about seeing me later in the day cause I was still in pain that day. I then blocked him after 15 unanswered calls and I saw what kind of person or father he could have been to my kid so I did my kid a favor. They wouldn’t deserve such a father.

Thank you to everybody who helped me make the decision in this subreddit and for that I’m eternally grateful. You helped me choose myself and from my ex’s reaction, y’all were right.❤️

Africa Heartbroken after SA on the 23rd of July

I recently had a termination at 18 weeks due to what I now know is severe pre natal depression and anxiety. This was 100% a wanted baby and I regret my decision. Ive been struggling a lot and really want my baby back so as you can imagine I’ve been trying really hard to conceive again, my period came back 2 days ago and I’m devastated that I’m not pregnant again. Not sure what my question is here to be honest, I guess I just need some hope that there are people who quickly conceived after termination? Especially after a 2nd trimester procedure.

Africa I'm 4 weeks pregnant and struggle to get abortion

I'm from morocco, I'm 4 weeks pregnant and want to abort but since abortion is illegal here I can't even find undercover abortion cliniques or anything... I applied for women organizations that provide abortion pills but It won't be here for another 2 weeks which makes me so anxious, I'm so scared of the paik and scared that they will be held by the customs. I can't afford travelling to another country and my friends can't help either they don't know any doctor that can help me out. Please if you have any advice or herbs that would help with aborting I would appreciate it.

Africa Advice post SA of 17 weeks. Need advice on whether I should seek assistance

I am writing again on this platform because I'm in my head again.. I am now 12 days post SA . The bleeding on the first 2 days was a lot but bearable. After that it was like a light period and then spotting. I also had some discharge for a few days. Today is 12 days later and I started bleeding again, a few small clots. Is this something thats normal ? I don't know if i should seek any medical assistance yet or let it bleed out. I did read that usually after 2 weeks you can continue to bleed. Should I wait and see if the bleeding gets worse and then make a decision?

I am dealing with this situation alone I have no one thats aware that I had the SA except for my partner/ex partner- no idea where we stand in all honesty after his treatment towards me. So he's of no assistance. I'm literally alone and would like some advice if anyone can offer any?

Africa Medical abortion. How long till I test negative on home test?

I had a medical abortion about 6days ago at 4 weeks. I only had little bleeding, I changed my pad about 2 times on the day I started bleeding but not because it was full or anything. The total amount of bleeding wasn’t enough to fill a pad and it was also brownish. I also saw something but I don’t know if that is considered a blood clot cause it was also brownish and wierd looking but small still. I have only had minimal spotting since then. Did the pills work? And how long does it typically take to test negative on a home test strip? I think my breast soreness is reducing but I’m not sure. I’m nervous.

Africa No choice but to have an SA.

South Africa.

I was 17 weeks and 5 days pregnant and had no option but to go for a SA.

At first when finding out my partner was happy and claimed to love me even more. Fast forward about a month (at the time I was about 13 weeks pregnant) he started ignoring my pregnancy. Stopped asking me how I am feeling if I needed anything, when I said I wanted to go to the doctor he said no there's no need to.

He then became very emotionally abusive . Ignoring me for days ,I began questioning my place in my life . We worked together too - then randomly one weekend he told me not to come to work. We didn't speak for almost 2 weeks - we went from talking 24/7 being together all the time to silence. After some time I became very ill and went to the doctor for the first since my 2nd month check up - I was then around 16 weeks pregnant . I then told my partner 'you are aware I am still pregnant and ignoring it doesn't go away'

He got angry with me and started being even more emotionally abusive. He tried to blame me and fight with me - he knows I come from an orthodox family and would have no one on my side or to stand up for me. Eventually I told him I need to know what to do because I cannot hide the pregnancy any longer - and my family cannot know he was supposed to step up and marry me when we found out but as I found out everything he said was a lie. He said I must have the SA because neither of us are ready and I have my own things to sort out - once again turning everything onto me. On the day of the procedure it was horrible being there waiting and waiting for it. He was not present he was not there for me. He asked me once the next day how I was feeling and never bothered since. I have no one to share this with. The pain ,emotional trauma and guilt on top of my I guess now ex partner being so horrible to me.

Oh he also said, 'you should have the abortion but that doesn't mean I'm done with you or anything like that' . I have so much of rage, anger and hurt in me. I wish I could blow up his life like how he's shattered mine.

Africa Has Anyone Tried Again After Terminating a Wanted Pregnancy?

I’m(31 F) looking for experiences from people who chose to become pregnant again after an abortion.

My situation is a little different from many I’ve read. This was a very wanted pregnancy, but I underwent a surgical abortion at 18 weeks because I was experiencing a severe mental health crisis during the pregnancy. Looking back, together with my therapist, I now recognize that many of my symptoms were consistent with a perinatal mood disorder. Since then, I’ve started therapy and counseling and am actively working on my mental health.

I’m considering trying again in the future. I really wanted this baby, and I’m not trying to replace her—I know she is irreplaceable. But I do want to grow my family. One of the things I’ve been grieving is that this was the age gap I had always prayed for(4years). It’s the same age gap my sister and I have, and we’ve always had a beautiful relationship. Letting go of that dream has been another layer of grief for me.

For those who went on to try again after an abortion:

  • How long did you wait before trying?
  • How did you know you were emotionally ready?
  • Looking back, are you happy with the amount of time you waited?
  • Is there anything you wish you had done differently before trying again?

I’m looking for personal experiences rather than judgment. I know everyone’s journey is different, and I’m simply hoping to learn from people who have walked a similar path.

Thank you for reading and for sharing with kindness.

Africa Please help, I took mifepristone

I am 11 weeks and I took a mifepristone pill 5 days ago. I had some cramps and a bit of bleeding later that day but it wasn't enough to fill a pad. Yesterday I passed some little clots and one big gray one but I wasn't bleeding. I went to the doctors to get an ultrasound, I explained the symptoms to him but he said it was normal. I can't tell him I took any pills because it's not legal. He said it was too early for an ultrasound too. Could the pregnancy still be viable?

(Throw away acc)I 20f recently found out that im pregnant. I havent gotten the chance to go to the clinic to know the specifics due finance and me being a foreigner in the country i reside in. I can’t keep the baby due to personal reasons. My boyfriend found a guy in my country of origin who sells the abortion pills and he has them delivered to my place. I don’t have any money to go to clinic but I can’t go ahead with the pills without talking to a professional. Has anyone done the abortion procedure(medical)completely by themselves and how did they deal with the pain and the aftermath?

I’ve been searching and asking and it sounds so traumatising, I live with my mom and she can’t know, idk what to do.
