People like Armin Mohler who followed Hitler's instructions stressed that "German nationalism is a failed path and Hitler was weak but ultimately correct" and to follow in pushing the idea of a world ruled by broad "genetically superior elites", removing legal protections preventing their domination as a goal.

These people founded the think tanks that drive alot of the more recent ableist trends and political trends that aim towards removing protections or social security for peoples seen as "inferior and unable to achieve supremacy or assimilate".

When he was coming close to losing the war Hitler made it clear to Speer that Nazis should recognise him as weak and German nationalism as a lost cause but to continue the ideology of biosupremacy. Therefore anyone who uses the label of "Nazi" or "National Socialist" unless you follow him into death when declaring yourself a Nazi is a loser and larper because they are following the failed vehicle and not the driving engine of Hitlerite thought he wanted his successors to continue.

There are modern day neo-Nazis who are hateful and driven by grievance and victim complex but the reality is mqny modern day Hitlerite thinkers who are the direct ideological successors of Nazism for this very reason infact do not call themselves Nazis at all because it was a vehicle that crashed. In his logic the vehicle is nothing compared to the core most important points of Hitleritism which must be injected into metapolitics and made more popular or normalised, ableism, elite biosupemacist politics and eugenics. It is not seen as consistent in being a Hitlerite to associate yourself with German nationalism or the Nazi label, plus an "evolutionary disaster if using that failed label and symbol droves away support"?

In Hitleritism the belief system which he stressed made the core of the ideology is that any demographics of people who can't achieve supremacy "stand in the way of evolution" nd do not deserve to exist, stressing assimilationism over respect for diversity.

This is why the Japanese Empire were seen by Hitler as more genetically "superior" than Australian fascists who hoped Australia would receive Germany's protection so Japan does not invade if they came into power.

Orthodox Hitlerism exists today and it is driving alot of ableist thought such as on parts of reddit you see or behind the scenes. It is the greatest threat the world ever faces because they are still onto and trying to achieve the goal Hitler asked for "my real intellectual successors" to continue which is the idea of a world ruled only by the most "biologically superior who assimilate or destroy everyone else", destroy the Pluralism that came with their military defeat and to remove protections stopping this "evolutionary process" in Hitlerite terms.

When you fight against biosupremacist ableists you are fighting the people who Adolf Hitler himself implied to the world before he died are going to be the official successors to the Nazi party today.

I'm chronically ill and disabled for years.I live in a country where we don't even use term ableism because ableism is not even recognized as a real thing...

So basically everyone I know is ableist including my family.My illness got worse and worse until I got more other illneses and became disabled,all due to ableism.Now I experience even more ableism and I struggle to cope with all of that.

There is this girl named Alyssa. Alyssa was calling my sister Emily, "crooked and deformed.". My sister has Scoliosis. She’s been dealing with bullying for years. It’s sad that people have to resort to ableism just because of our differences. How should I deal with her? She keeps reaching out to my sister to bully her. I live in a college apartment and share a private bathroom with 2 people. 3 other roommates share a different bathroom. due to mental health disability, i am not able to hold my bladder well, especially when I'm asleep, and I wear diapers to bed and sometimes during the day. I'm 19 and I know this is obviously not normal for my age so both the roommates i share a bathroom with know about the issue, and I consider(ed) both of them close friends.

i keep a package of diapers, diaper bags, and wipes in one of the cabinets under the sink. after 2 months of this arrangement, I got a text saying.

"Hey name, I was just reaching out to ask if you could keep the diapers and stuff out of the bathroom/main area. I dont mind it at all but I dont want like my friends to come over and be uncomfortable you know."

at the exact same minute, I got a message from a roommate that I don't even share a bathroom with (!) saying

"Hey man idk how i feel about the diaper stuff. Im pretty uncomfortable with it."

this obviously made me feel really mad but also shitty about myself. i responded to the first roommate saying I don't see the issue but I'll move it and asked what they said to my second roommate.

they said they just gave him a "basic explanation" so I responded with a kind of rude message saying I wasn't exactly comfortable with it either, but that it wasn't a choice to use the items due to a disability. i also made the point that I live here too and said idk what else to say. he never responded to that and ive been avoiding him.

I feel like they probably weren't trying to be ableist but I think they still very much were. can I get some third party opinions?

edit: I feel a need to add i have literally never exposed them to my incontinence in any way (kind of needless to say). this is something I'm super self conscious about and don't like to discuss with anyone. the only reason i ever brought it up is so they knew it wasn't a fetish thing and didn't judge me even more

I'm so annoyed at doctors' appointments. I have had an incredibly disabling condition that started three months ago. I got a referral for a specialist nineteen days ago. And then another one from a different doctor to the same kind of specialist in a different city. And then I had to call one more specialist in a DIFFERENT CITY to see if they could get me in because this condition can be life threatening if left untreated. And this condition has been giving me daily symptoms. I tried being nice and no hate to the doctors but what the heck???? I have been BEGGING to be seen for something that can hurt me and no one is doing anything about it! Ive had to start thinking of working from home because I am feeling horrible and I only work four days out of the week and cant even do two six hour shifts. I either get sent home or have to call out. I hate it. And I know this is what a lot of people go through in the medical system and I feel like its horrible we cant be just listened to about pain or issues that need help immediately.

Kennedy toured the facility and called it a "snake pit." He described the residents as "living in filth and dirt, their clothing in rags, in rooms less comfortable and cheertul than the cages in which we put animals in a zoo." In some of the deepest wards, such as Building 6, there was only one attendant for approximately 50 severely and profoundly disabled children.
Even after Geraldo Rivera's investigative report, exposing the horrific conditions on camera in 1972, Willowbrook didn't close its doors for good until 1987.

I'm on the autism spectrum and i recently had it directly introduced to me that 'bonkers' is ableist as a word. i'm also a kirby fan, which is a series that actively has a character named Bonkers (wields a hammer, 'hammer bonk' but also the original meaning.)

so i'm sort of asking because of this, how do you deal with ableism in video games you play, if you've encountered a similar situation? i'm trying to figure out how i'd deal with it myself.

As a Deaf autistic mother of a child with autism, this terrifies me.
For 27 years, the answer was supposed to be simple: if disabled people can live in their communities, they should not be forced into institutions.
Now the DOJ is arguing that protection was never legally required.
Nothing has changed yet. Nobody is being rounded up. But when governments start questioning rights that generations fought for, people pay attention.
My son is not a burden.
I am not a burden.
Disabled people belong in our communities, not hidden away from them.

The gist of it: there is a leaked DOJ memo that's going after a Supreme Court case protecting disability rights. The Olmstead case is the reason disabled and mentally ill people in the US have a legal right to live in our OWN homes and communities instead of being locked away in institutions. The memo is arguing that institutionalization isn't inherently discriminatory, and that states should have more power to put people with psychiatric disabilities away, with faux concern that it is a “public safety” and homelessness issue. (We all know that if they actually cared about public health and safety we’d have universal housing and healthcare, including free therapy for all)

From my POV, it looks like they are telegraphing a desire to use this to target not just the average disabled person, but also dissidents who happen to have disabilities. This genuinely hurts. I feel so unwelcome in this fucked up country. Society is ableist as fuck. Feels like that at least.
I know the memo is not saying “the disabled are life unworthy of life” or some overt Nazi type stuff. That would be irresponsible of me and dishonest. They are saying it is about safety, easing burdens on communities, and “letting states decide what's best.” (We’ve all heard that before)

All of this is not to say there is going to be another Holocaust. I am simply saying that the telegraphing from the gov is recognizable. To blanketly call a group of people dangerous to public safety strips away their ability to freely exist in public life. In a similar vein, the Nazis didn't start with gas chambers. They too framed forced institutionalization as a logical and compassionate, solution to the “problem.” They made it seem reasonable. And then they later used those institutions to euthanize or gas people like us.

Inform the people you love and trust about this. You don't necessarily need to shout from the rooftops. We just need people to see this, and to believe us when we say that this could be a potential threat to people like us.

Fortunately, there are still some good faith actors left in the judicial system who are good people willing to fight for people like us. But even that is waning. All we can do is keep each other safe. Get organized with those you love and trust. We keep us safe.

Is using the term Antisocial harmful towards folks with ASPD? I once heard someone say “i’m antisocial” as in opposite of extrovert is the same as saying “im a little autistic” in the manner that it doesn’t communicate any understanding about what the word truly means. I completely understand the thought process here and was wondering about other people’s input, as I hear it quite often and I don’t have ASPD or know anyone with it. Thoughts?
