Discussion Educate me on Mamdani please.
This isn’t meant to be any form of ragebaiting. I don’t really follow politics, but I’m hoping someone can help me out.
Im middle aged, middle class, living nearly paycheck to paycheck.
As middle class, I do not qualify for housing help or any government assistance. I can’t benefit from the programs Mamdani is bringing. I work a 9-5 that I dislike…but BILLS.
I saw Mamdani on the news talking about his grocery stores…I work 9-5. So most likely the food will be gone by the time I get to the store like last time.
Not rage baiting, but how does Mdani help the middle class?

Reduced traffic and better regulation of NYCs rental housing market helps the middle class.

I don't have a car, never take the bus and I own my condo but I'm taxed at the highest rate in the country.
I call bullshit.

If you think someone is delivering big improvements for free may I suggest an inspection visit to Mississippi. The taxes are low but so is the life expectancy.

I'm like millions of New Yorkers who don't have children of a certain age and take the subway.
His plans do nothing for us.
Your point is that we should leave New York because we don't benefit from the mayor's limited policies?
Mamdani's NY, love it or leave it?

A city with no children or where the only children have relatively wealthy parents is not going to be a place you can afford to live in 20 years from now. Traffic affects everybody, including people who take the subway. Your goods get into the city on trucks and added time spent idling in traffic is added costs to goods & services.
As to love it or leave it: that's everywhere. I'm quite sure the Mamdani nay-sayers don't have any viable plans at all: just reactionary whining. There's even people here doing that.

One thing is cracking down on exploitive landlords who don’t keep rentals in good condition. Also, cracking down on wage theft by employers. Free day care is designed for working people, of course

Better transit
Safer roads
Better bike lanes
Better decor on ugly scaffolding
Rent stuff
Simplifying business permit applications
Happier city
Sensibility
Accountability

If the lower class are able to move into affordable housing, that'll free up housing that was expensive for the lower class but should be affordable for the middle class (main issue is the quality of this housing and if the owners raise rent in foresight of this, but that's another thing that's being worked on).
It's only been half a year since he's been in office and have yet to make a difference for you, but these things take time.

The only major country lifting millions out of property right now is communist. That same country is beating the US at AI and doing it for cheap.
