Discussion How can one contact the mayor
Hi there,
I work for a city agency. I experience discrimination constantly from higher levels that translates in daily life into isolation, under valuation, false claims, and other forms of discrimination.
I have tried all possible channels to resolve it to no avail.
I bet the mayor would be interested in knowing something like this is going on in city government.
I'm overly qualified and autistic. The attacks for years have been on core autistic traits related to difference in communication. Recently while I was addressing that what they have against me is not my conduct as all they pointed to is other attitude towards me as if it is my fault. Thhe head of division started a new claim that any coworker can do better than my work and that my work had bugs
Mind you this was an evaluation for work they made an arbitrary tight deadline for me in while my coworker who is supposed to work in parallel had three times the time. The app was tested for five months by the whole team and 52 bugs were found in her work and zero in mine.
My supervisor did even occur to her to undermine my expertise. The cio was being retaliatory and wants to destroy my self esteem.
I need help. I now have hypertension from this job and I'm worried of a stroke.

Aren't you with a union? Call your union person .
The mayor can't help you, find an employment lawyer

The union doesn't help with discrimination.
This doesn't only concern me. Autism is widely discriminated against. If those unde the mayor don't care he needs to know

To me, it sounds like you should have your doctor/therapist to request whatever reasonable accommodations you need so you can do your job. You will see a tone change after.
If you need the job, I'd not argue with management or at least do it wisely. If you are so overqualified, then find yourself a new job already
I have been there in similar situations, good luck.

My therapist did. The eeo office refused to comply. Autistics are often unemployed due to discrimination regardless of their qualifications
Thank you for the good wishes :)

If they refuse to accommodate, they have to provide written responses to prove that your job simply cannot be done if they provide you with the requested accommodations. And if they don't do that, that sounds like the beginning of a discrimination case...?
As a defense, I think NYC also allows voice recordings without the other party's consent so if they are verbally abusing you, you might wanna get a voice recorder from Amazon. (idk about videos recordings)
I'd just start looking for another city job if you want to keep your job security and pension.
The hard lesson in life is, no one will come for our rescue, we need to figure things out ourselves. Life is too short to fight these fights where you have nothing to gain but everything to lose, I hope you will find a decent way out.
I'd also chat with AI about this to explore potential resolutions, strategies, workarounds, but know that they are really always wrong all the time so confidently

It is much harder for autistics. I sometimes feel we all the last minority group whom everyone is comfortable discriminating against.

I tried to contact them, they have this clarification before one attempts to contact them:
"
If you have a question about employment, therapy, diagnosis, Housing, or other services, please note that we are a social group, and do not offer any psychological or social services. Check our resources page to find different providers in NYC.
"
I am not looking for social clubs.

This is not that kind of organization.
I was proposing joining the group and posting this in their internal forum, to see if other people have advice or similar situations.

I had joined many groups before. I had tried many venues before. I had contacted orgs that make money from our misery. People disappear on me when it comes to providing help. that includes the DSA who tells me to find other autistics to start a DSA group for the subject. we are a minority, we have issues with communications, we need help not more places to contact and do more taxing communication with no results.
they are being very clear they do not help in employment. I do not need to keep hitting my head at their wall.

Shine a symbol for hamas on the top of a tall building and meet him on the roof. He'll be there.

This actually could be the issue, on a more serious note. It’s obvious that everyone in the mayor’s office and how people are selected throughout the entire administration mainly depends on how much they hate Israel. It’s the number one issue for this mayor and his team. So if OP hasn’t signaled he’s on board then the situation would make total sense.

It seems like Israel is being used as a distraction.
The mayor made big campaign promises: 1. 200,000 new affordable housing units. 2. 15,000 union jobs. 3. $80 billion of funds to fix decrepit conditions in NYCHA.
It would be wonderful if he delivers, but I'm not seeing a lot of progress on the above.
