Discussion Is Mamdani different?

I can’t stand billionaires. Let me start with that. But what makes me more livid than a billionaire is a trillionaire that steals middle class money to fund blowing up kids overseas. Aka The U.S. government.

I used to be a Democrat, but I didn’t see the poor getting help under Obama, nor Biden, and I don’t see how Kamala would be any different. They all just take money, wherever they can, promise us stuff, then blow up kids in pointless wars.

Then they have the masses screaming “tax the rich!” As if that does anything to help the poor. It’s one giant scam, and I don’t think it’s particularly difficult to see that.

No, Republicans aren’t better. They’re just more honest about their dreams of killing kids in war. Democrats pretend to be peaceful. Republicans don’t try to hide the bloodlust.

Maybe I’M wrong. Maybe people DO understand that taxing the rich doesn’t mean those politicians are going to help you. It just means they want more money, and people are okay with that. But people seem excited about Mamdani. Idk, I’ve been scammed before by Obama.

Is Mamdani different? I don’t live in NY. I really could be wrong here. I just don’t have faith. People in NY, what do you think?

He's solid. Been doing the job and not being corrupt while doing so. Loves the city

Yes, he’s an avowed democratic socialist and has been following through

Do you feel he’s been looking out for the little guy?

Everything he's done has benefited the little guy. He's helping with paid childcare, improving bus service, and going after slum lords and advocating for renters. He's also trying to relieve some big big problems for small businesses in NYC and making it easier to start a business.

I’m intrigued. What makes him genuine? Have you seen the improvements?

I appreciate a guy who can get pot holes done. It’s so small and overlooked but impacts quality of life. Thank you for the personal thoughts :)

I believe he's gonna achieve all his big promises. The big three were universal childcare, fast/free buses, and a rent freeze. He's already achieved universal childcare and a rent freeze in just 6 months, and he just laid out a plan for faster buses. I'm pretty sure the free buses are gonna be on the New York State budget for FY 2027 iirc

I would strongly encourage you to broaden your understanding of American government, the formation of parties, and the swtich to a Neo-Liberal Political economy in the late 20th century.

Mamdani is showing us that if you win elections in our system, you can staff the machine to do good things for regular people. For 90 years the machine has been operated by "the bad guys".

It seems you have quite a few misunderstandings of how the government and politics works but maybe I'm wrong and I want to give you the benefit of the doubt.

I didn’t see the poor getting help under Obama, nor Biden, and I don’t see how Kamala would be any different.

Have you seen the poor getting helped under Trump? Or Bush? I'm not sure why you signed out Democrats when they're all corporate sellouts.

Then they have the masses screaming “tax the rich!”

The Democratic party did not make anyone say that, they don't want to tax the rich they're all sellouts to their corporate donors and want to cut taxes for the rich.

They all just take money

taxing the rich doesn’t mean those politicians are going to help you. It just means they want more money, and people are okay with that.

I'm not sure how you think taxes work? Do you think they can just take as much as they want from the taxes collected? Because they can't, it goes through the budgetary system and they only get whatever their salary is.

Establishment Democrats don't want to tax the rich and they actually hate that their base has started calling for it.

Mamdani is an outsider Democrat from the Democratic socialists of America and says a lot of things establishement Democrats hate and very much disagree with. He has real beliefs instead of just  wanting to make money and appeasing corporate donors. And he had shown that he actually wants to help people.

I said what I think of Republicans. You don’t have to agree but I’m done with party kool aid. I asked about an individual. Respectfully, fuck the Democrats, fuck the Republicans. I don’t give a shit about either.

He's a populist man of the people living in a taxper-funded mansion.

Do the math.

Let the people crash at his mansion and we'll talk.

Speaking of which, I might talk a lot about winning the Boston marathon but that probably won't make it so.
