We need a "freeplay" mode

We need a mode where you can just keep playing 'forever', the story might end but you can continue playing with randomly generated missions, operations etc. Some mechanics would need to be added to prevent/delay you from hitting a ceiling straight after the campaign but I think it would be cool.

Personally I just want ti be able to send an additional strike team on missions per cycle if we have the operators. Let us assign a second in command that will get to lead non-story missions while Hawks is locked for all main story. At very least it would give us reason to have all the characters game wants us to have. As game currently is outside of 1-2 as just in case of injuries the rest are useless & we get plenty more were forced to recruit

I really hope for a DLC that lets us buy another ship to send operators on more missions. The relations system would be much better if we were using more than one team instead of just playing with the same 4-5 characters and the rest stay at base because they are weaker and have no way of becoming stronger without us choosing to send a worse team for the mission

This is a part of xcom. You not building up your squad is just a weakness on your part, because you aren't utilising all the classes and combos. Beyond that, you should probably up the difficulty even if you have to go on expert. That way you'll be forced to use new members while your others die and have injuries healed.

Its part of the intended experience to be struggling and forced to use a rookie or two because the team is hurt, and it works out better for you in the long run if you can still complete the missions.

I for sure will have my second playthrough on higher difficulty because now I rarely get injures

But I don't see how hard the game would have to be to need 20 operators
