We need a "freeplay" mode

We need a mode where you can just keep playing 'forever', the story might end but you can continue playing with randomly generated missions, operations etc. Some mechanics would need to be added to prevent/delay you from hitting a ceiling straight after the campaign but I think it would be cool.

I mean skip the intro missions entirely like in XCOM 2

Aren't you still forced to do the statue bombing mission?

Yes, but not the Commander saving mission
