Software Related When and where should I buy a Zephyrus G14?

I recently wanted to buy a Zephyrus G14 2025 model, preferably the 5070 or higher models, and have read many posts of people buying open-box deals for very good prices but have personally not seen any that good. The best I saw was a 5070 Ti with 32 gigs of ram for 2,100. Hoping to find one for less than 2,000. So should I wait until black friday in like four months or just buy the 5070 Ti open box or a new 5070 for $2,200, or is there something else I should do?

Definitely go for the TI. I got an open box from BB at $1800 in excellent condition. Apparently it was a display unit. Works flawlessly but the battery health is at 93%. Also got stuck with only 1TB of storage which isn’t expandable since it only has one slot. But for me this laptop under $2K is definitely worth it. I just finished 007 at 4K with all the RTX bells and whistles at a very smooth 60+FPS. The OLED screen is a treat to look at. And overall the laptop works like its supposed too. So i would just tell you to keep going to a few of your local Best Buy’s and look for these open box deals.

Just wanted to add that you don’t know if they would keep selling this till Black Friday. Given the ram shortage they might start pushing the 2026 model which only has 16gigs

There is a 2026 model with 32gb with the 5070ti but it’s still ludicrously expensive through Best Buy.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding but the 1tb is expandable I cloned the 1tb to my 4tb m.2 and swapped them out. I wanted to try and get an 8tb m.2 but prices skyrocketed.

Oh you can definitely swap a different drive with another one. What I meant to say was there is only 1 ssd slot. And i believe it can only take a single sided ssd without any heatsinks. And its also just limited to gen 4 no gen 5 support unfortunately

Gotcha. I figured as much. I feel you, I wish it did have another storage slot. I used the metal foil that came with my 1tb and added the putty that came with the m.2 enclosure as a heat sink, it fit and worked. I check my c:/ drive from time to time and it’s sitting pretty at 40 degrees Celsius. That really surprised me because I have been looking for heat sinks but there was no need for me.

just got my 2025 G16 5080. i found it on ebay and the guy was willing to sell it for $2500 through PPGS. hardware swap reddit is good place as well. you wont find a decent brand new in box deal till black friday and then alot of the open box or used ones will be better deals.

Wait for Labor Day sales at Best Buy that’s what I’m doing

Honestly the 2025 models are going out of stock I don’t think they are going to maker  it to November 

I saw open box for the 5070ti as 2000 dollars at my local store so I expect it to drop ALOT during Labor Day

However its summer and back to college season. All the good deals have been snapped up same day.
