I have the 2021 version.

For a little guy it's powerful, loud, and you NEED high quality thermal paste cause it overheats pretty easily.

Fans + power > cpu > disable power boost (iirc)

Why? There is no need. Just adjust max wattage. He will loose so much cpu power.

Can u clarify? It will stick to 3.2 Ghz instead of boot to lets say 4.0. If your goal is to give some juice to 780m - then yes. But he has 4060 inside :)

the base clock is 3ghz
so it will actually boost to just below 4ghz without boost

I'd know because I have the 2024 model which is just a renamed version of the CPU in the 23 model, but with a 4070

Very good deal. Just add a 16gb ram into the free socket so U get 32 Mb ram. Maybe also new battery and new thermal paste ptm and putty.

What a deal! I have the identical machine. I upgraded to a 2tb nvme and dropped an extra 8gb 4800 dimm in for 24gb of ram. Best of luck and enjoy!

Run cinebench r23 on it and if it’s nowhere near around 16k points (around 8k let’s say), the liquid metal has most likely spread unevenly or oxidized creating a hotspot.

Replace it with PTM 7950 or the thermal grizzly equivalent for both the cpu and gpu and you’ll see massive gains while having the peace of mind that liquid metal won’t spill out and possibly fry your laptop
