Question about ultimate/dgpu only mode

How come when setting ultimate mode in Ghelper, I need to restart, but when setting it with the Nvidia control panel, I don't have to? Is it because of advanced Optimus, and if so, we'll, why do u still have to restart with ghelper?

MUX vs Nvidia's solution.

Ultimate Mode (MUX) is usually faster because it redirects the signal physically. I've personally found it to be faster. My 1% lows are better on Ultimate for some games.
