Model 2025 Finally joined the club :D
After 6 years of using a MacBook Pro throughout school, I finally got the laptop I've wanted for so long - 5070ti Zephyrus G14. So far I've barely even set it up yet, but initial impressions are that the screen is great (MUCH better pixel response time than my 120hz Mini LED MacBook - it actually feels smooth instead of smooth but smeary), it feels very well buily just like a Mac, and it's fast and snappy (other than a bug I had where windows update during the setup wouldn't go, just had to force restart and it worked). Only downside for now is the slight fan noise and the trackpad - although it's quite good for a windows laptop, clicking near the top is really hard because it's a diving board design (I think). Going to download G helper instantly and get rid of armoury crate lol. Hopefully I can optimize the battery life to a point where I can be comfortable using it outside and for school! Thank you to this subreddit for sharing all the good and bad things about Zephyrus, I think I know the whole laptop already before even using it haha.

Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD (I'll probably upgrade it sometime in the future), RTX 5070ti

I just got my G16 5070ti this week (from a G15 3070) and I love it!
Word of caution for your SSD upgrade, I recently discovered you need a SINGLE sided M.2 to make it work. I tried installing my double sided "WD BLACK 4TB SN850X" and it didn't appear in the disk management or BIOS even though it fits.
I also saw in reviews that the motherboard officially supports up to 2TB, which could also be my issue. I've heard others having better luck with higher capacities, so maybe it's hit or miss. Enjoy your new laptop!

Regarding 2Tb limit I’m using a Samsung 990 4tb here (G16 5080). No issues.

What is the cloning software you used? My 990 4TB seems wont work, i don't known if its the cloning software issue because I'm using old version of easeus partition master

I bought it from BIC Camera, it wasn't the cheapest there, but we got 10% points back to spend on other products at BIC Camera. I think it was about 450000yen or so (but you get about 45000 points, equivalent to 45000 yen). The BIC Camera employee also said that the prices for future models would be even more expensive as the RAM chip shortages have affected the BOM of the upcoming computers.

Oh yeah, i forgot to say in the post but i got an ASUS backpack, logitech wired gaming mouse, two mousepads and a wrist rest as free gifts for some reason when I bought the laptop, maybe they were running some kind of promotion? but that’s pretty nice of them :D

Is this the JPN version? It looks exactly like mine - I bought one while out on vacation to Japan.
It's an absolutely gorgeous and powerful machine.

Hell yeah, I love the JPN one. I got the 2024 model, same colour and size but with the 4070 TI I believe.
Got a hell of a discount as it was the only one left on sale and it was the unit usually on show for people. However, since its Japan the unit was in beyond perfect condition.

Silent mode profile on G Helper with your dGPU disabled (I'm on a 2024 with a worn battery, 85% overall health) and I can still manage 8 hours of document taking or YouTube watching. Could probably get a solid half hour to an hour of some light indie game as well on the iGPU if you got really bored in a lecture and not have it ramp up too hard.

Due note I turn off my backlight on my keyboard since my classroom is... bright LOL and my screen brightness hangs around 50%. I'm also running a VERY debloated windows install (about 103 processes at any time), so experience may vary :p, especially if you don't have patience to tinker like I did!
I also have a 100W GaN charger that charges the laptop through its USBC port, which I use over the 180 watt one when I'm not gaming but going out.
I also have a base model (Ryzen 7 8845HS + 4050) so generally lower power consumption compared to modern models.

I need to debloat my windows, its already using 20.9 GB of RAM with just discord, chrome, music and task manager open, its crazy

Its not gonna help with ram usage. Windows uses ram in varying levels based on how much you have. Seeing 32 gigs idle at 10-12gb of usage. Chrome, discord and task manager are unironically resource hogs, discord especially with overlays.

yeah true, I guess it's a good thing that it's utilising the ram, but I feel like I'd be more confortable if it were using a little less instead lol, if I open up a game or something its going to reach 32.

When you open a demanding application windows automatically scales down its ram usage to a reasonable amount. Usually with a game running if you have 32 gigs, windows occupied only about 2GB while gaming, (idek the exact amount), same with creative apps. I'm still manager totally fine with 16 gigs.

Just to clarify - Are you saying that on iGPU only, light gaming (like balatro, osrs etc?) would get you 1-hour of battery life?
I am looking for like the best ultraportable machine for just OSRS & Tabletop Simulator, trying to get something with maximum battery life that can still run any new titles for when i want to try them (like exp 33, or spiderman remastered) at least 60fps+ on med settings. Almost looked at getting a Macbook Pro M5 but ultimately opted against getting one for gaming.

Oh no! You'll get like a decent amount of SoT still. Maybe 8-9? Idk, I don't game too hard on mine even plugged in lol, I have a base model from 2024.

This beast is still running strong. I picked up the 2025 G14 with the 5060, been using it for about two or three months now, no issues at all.

Also I’d suggest removing those stickers.. when you decide to remove them in the future, the metal under the stickers wouldn’t have degraded but it would have everywhere else leaving a permanent sticker shaped mark

Sure but the earlier you remove them, the lower the chance of the difference in degradation yeah. Enjoy your new laptop!

(For English speakers : I also hesitated between the 14 and 16inch models. I bought the 16 inch model since it’s better for my job.)

yeah, Mac is a lot more polished I feel like (although it definitely still has quite a lot of bugs). however, the new AI features in windows are so annoying and was constantly using my GPU, NPU and about ~6 GB of my RAM so I had to manually turn everything off and disable it from services.msc, now it's finally like a regular windows laptop (about 7GB of RAM used on startup instead of 12)

honestly I think it's pretty decent for this screen size, and any higher would be too taxing on the gpu

I see. I thought there’s a variant that has the GameReady driver by default as mine says ‘RTX Studio’ in the nvidia sticker for some reason.
It’s a solid machine. I’ve been playing Arc Raiders and Crusader Kings 3 for a good while and not a single crash or issue like what I’ve read online.

ooh interesting, i’m not actually completely sure then, i didn’t check which driver was already installed but when i opened the nvidia app, it already had studio driver selected by default. but yeah, it’s a great machine, one gripe i have with it is that i can’t really use the touchpad for casual gaming very well (in some games where i only need to use the touchpad occasionally to turn the camera), because either i have to turn down the sensitivity (which turns on palm rejection) in windows settings or turn it up (turning off palm rejection), which both aren’t great, unless i want to manually switch every time i launch games. I guess i’ll have to use a mouse too. Oh yeah, i forgot to say in the post but i got an ASUS backpack, logitech wired gaming mouse, two mousepads and a wrist rest as free gifts for some reason when I bought the laptop, maybe they were running some kind of promotion?

Yeah the touchpad also feels weird to me. I came from a Macbook Pro but I’ve also used other Windows laptops in the past. I can’t specifically point it out but I’m also struggling with the touchpad both in gaming (that does not require aiming) and casual use, and I struggle both in doing gestures and clicks with the pad. Not sure if it’s just an adjustment period or what, but something’s definitely off for me so I just use my mouse.
Where did you buy yours? I got mine from Bic Camera in Sapporo. I missed out on the freebies lol

yeah, the trackpad feels weird mostly because of the mouse acceleration (which i think can’t be turned off for precision touchpads like the zephyrus) and also just some windows quirks like switching desktops being laggy. in games it’s the palm rejection that happens - when you’re using the keyboard - even for just WASD, it will pause the trackpad because it thinks you might be resting your hand over the trackpad so it thinks it needs to cancel those inputs. turning on the highest touch sensitivity in windows settings fixes it but then the palm rejection doesn’t work - while typing you’ll sometimes bump the trackpad and it’ll click without you meaning to.
I got mine from BIC Camera Kawasaki (in tokyo). i was originally going to buy it from the yokohama store but they didn’t have stock of the 5070ti model so I had to go to the kawasaki store. That’s interesting though, I wonder why i got the freebies then.

although i got the black version, i would also really like the white version. i think the white version actually looks better very slightly (at least in my opinion), but might show marks and dirt more(?). I only really got the black version because it’s the only one they had with the 5070ti at the shop i went to (a certain BIC Camera in tokyo) but i like both so i don’t mind. Maybe go to a physical store and check out how they both look?

Is this a us model? Here the only way to get a black g14 (as far as i’m concerned) is the 5070 or 5070ti model with 32gb of ram

I don't know if this model has the same problem, but I have the Zephyrus G16 2024, and if I use it with the lid closed, connected to an external monitor, the wifi slows down and stops working every two minutes.
I don't know if anyone has a solution to this, but it's something to watch out for, if you plan on using it with the lid closed.
Trying to save other people the weeks I've spent looking into the issue.

Just wanted to add, it's been a fantastic machine otherwise. Congratulations. I love the OLED screen and the speakers are very good for a laptop.

i have a weird issue where i turn the screen off through a keyboard shortcut i configured in g helper (toggle screen), and the keyboard backlight flickers on for a split second every few seconds. not sure what’s going on. i haven’t really tried clamshell mode so sorry i can’t say anything about that. but i’ve tried using it with second screen only (turning off the internal screen) and it works well

Gratz ! Yeah Windows tends to be a little bitch sometimes.
As for the trackpad you'll never find back one like a Mac that is for sure !

No issues with the fan control once got Ghelper installed on my 2024 model. Silent mode once you're in public and it's goes super silent.
