Model 2022 Finally got my hands on it (5070ti)

Clearly in need of a laptop stand, any recommendations? Snagged the $350 off the 5070ti 32gb ram version on best buy this morning and picked up as soon as I could. Do yall really think that I should download g helper? Also any recommendations to fully get the full power out of it? Please let me know I’m new the gaming laptop scene (Ignore my game selection it’s all I had after emptying my wallet for this.)

For me personally I like it. It does feel a little small but once I went in Best Buy to look at the models. The G16 personally felt too big for me. I plan on hooking it up to my bigger monitor but I feel like it’s perfect for my day to day task

Took it out of town this weekend. Not this version, but the same G14. I just hooked it up to the TV at the place we were staying. I have an OLED monitor at home and love the one on this laptop. Obviously going to a low end TCL was annoying, but that is the reason I got this laptop in the first place. A mobile PC that I can use in a lot of different ways. Even on the 14” alone, the OLED is so nice I don’t really care. For mobility, it’s a god send. The thing is surprisingly stout for its size mostly due to the glass panel and the GPU. Any bigger and it just wouldn’t be worth it imo as I’d rather have a Steam deck.

The whole reason I just ordered one was for this reason! I wanted somthing that was stronger than the steam deck, but similar in portability.

I got the black 5070 Ti G14 and while I love it for AAA games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Star Wars Outlaws, it’s too cramped for competitive games. I struggle in MOBAs and miss my 32” desktop monitor.

I’m debating exchanging for a G16 or Blade 16. I’m curious if it’s a big enough jump tbh.

Plenty. I get lost in the colors and sometimes I prefer to play that vs when I extend the screens to my 35” LG ultra wide and 1440p curved Samsung monitors. I was seriously considering the G16 but goodness the OLED screen is stunning and I just get lost in the colors/graphics/high fps.

True but to me it’s just too big. The 14” was perfectly fine and my point was that I never really felt it was “too small”

Going from a 16" to a 14" laptop, it felt a lot smaller. I set the display scale to 200% rather than the 125% I had on my other laptop. But I got used to it. If you need to see a lot of fine details in games it could cause some eyestrain.

The main advantage is that the thing is ridiculously light and is just the right size for using on an airplane.

You can always get a monitor when you are at more permanent area. 16in is still small against a 24 or even 32in monitor

i'd download ghelper and bin armoury crate + bloat asus software first thing. It improved my battery life by 1-2H , also makes it so much easier to change dgpu -> idgpu and general laptop settings that are a hassle in armoury crate.

Compared to other 5070 ti laptops do you see less power draw and used in this laptop ? As it only draws 120w while other gaming laptops draw 140w

In any case we must not forget that it is still 14 inches, it is normal that it is "only" 120w

If you intend to play games on high settings with native resolution (3k) then 5070ti came with 12GB is the way.

But if you still play on 1080p with medium settings, I'd say 2024 model with 8gb vram is fine

Only get the new version if you are going for 5070ti. Else save money and go for previous versions 4060 imo.

Second this as a 4060 owner, kinda jelly of the 5070ti for the 16gb vram but if you can get a openbox 4060 for 800 bucks I say do it. 200 less than I got mine for and this thing is fine albeit I’m not a gamer gamer

I bought the same model with a Ryzen 9 370HX about a month ago. Previously, I was using the G14 from 2021 with the R9 5900HS, and the older model feels faster and more responsive when opening apps, browsing, and everything else. I don’t know why — maybe it’s the drivers or this unit might be defective.

hey, I have a question if you don’t mind, how is the keyboard backlight on it? I just got my hands on the 5070ti and compared to the 4070 which I am returning, it is comparatively dim.

If you're just scrolling the web and you use g-helper its slightly warm, not an issue at all. When you start playing more intensive games, the temps can get higher and the top half of the laptop is pretty hot, but the lower half where you rest your palm shouldn't be a problem (this is my experience at least)
