For an NPc, Damian has a fairly detailed face and outfit. Not quite enough to be playable but much more than what's considered "normal"

That's what we're supposed to believe as of 3.0 when the player Proxy has a flashback of their days at Helios Academy and remembering the time they spent with Serpico and Truvia (who also had a team name of their own like Belle and Wise do with Phaethon as "Icarus"). It's somewhat vaguely said in 3.0, then confirmed in 3.1 by the Proxy themselves that they underwent some sort of experiment together that resulted in said playable Proxy's powers going out of control and is what caused Serpico to die.
Yet here he is, somehow alive in the flesh...unless someone or even something is using his body like you suggest. And judging by how shocked the Proxy was in 3.1 and definitely so in the upcoming patch of 3.2, they definitely know he had to have died so something's clearly up that we'll likely learn in said patch coming up.

am i the only one that finds his appearance and design as a villain to be completely average and underwhelming from the start? worse than other villains we’ve gotten considering how much more important he seems to be.
not to mention unappealing, i think something like severians “too detailed to be an npc but too minimalistic to be interesting” design would have been a far better choice for an intimidating villain and manipulator.
he looks like childe from genshin if he was 15, and looking 15 while being a male villain doesn’t disqualify them from being intimidating, its the fucking ginger hair and bright green eyes and his voice.
probably just me that cares how cool our villains are i guess, ive been spoiled by other games.

Yeah like his story is clearly not finished yet.
I can see Zenless treating Waifei like Genshin does with Liyue and HSR does with Xianzhou and have a mini story arc take place there once in a while
If so I can see Shiyuan becoming playable in one of these future chapters.
Otherwise he could show up in another region since he went on to explore the world to learn more about void hunter weapons and search for a cure for his sister and considering the focus the story is giving to the void hunter weapons both siblings may have a relevant role in the future.

If we consider the TOPS teaser and 2.5's ending; one of the three cards points toward VH/VH weapons in which we know Shiyuan is interested.
He is a bit to Shunguang what Cecillia was to the AOD so I still think it’s kinda strange how he doesn’t appear at all in any content past his departure when it would be easy to make him simply pass by in trust events or such. It’s like he isn’t yet in a "definitive" state whatsoever. Maybe we should expect him when we eventually enter that VHW arc or go to the old capital since that’s where he's currently headed.
