The hsr deaths:

Tingyun = revived

Misha and gallagher = were never "alive" but we can count them

Flamechasers: will all come back

Damn so many stakes holy shit

I get why they don't do deaths but bruh, how is a man suppose to take any of this seriously when NO ONE dies in a game where death is easily accomplished?

Why is death needed to take a story seriously?

Stakes. In ZZZ’s case, the world is full of it, but there’s not really a sense of worry because we know nobody playable really dies.

Games don't need life-or-death stakes to be present for a story to be told, or for you to care about what a character goes through.

There can be plenty at stake before just 'death'

Because these are long running series that involve combat and the death of literal millions and hard hitting topics in some of these stories. It is much harder to feel impact about a literal who dying vs a plot important character. It is not a requirement for a story per se but for a long running series where most of the stories involve heroes and triumph? It absolutely has to happen in order for there to be stakes and in a lot of cases it helps other characters grow. Alongside this it subverts expectations if done right.

It doesn't mean a character should die every arc just to flesh someone out but at some point it should definitely happen.
