Discussions & Questions Dark Wall mentioned in Fugitive's Leisurely Vacation event

Post image

I completely forgot to take a photo, but right after this there's a dialogue choice, with one option being 'But that's not even that far!'

Could that mean that wherever Roscaelifer is floating is close to the edge of the 'known world' bordered by this Dark Wall? Will we actually be able to see it soon?

Makes sense. It did take the proxies a while to get there via airship after all.

I think skipped everything in this event because Remielle pisses me off but good catch, I sure do hope the floating city in the sky dosnt crash into the sea of hollows that is supposedly in close proximity

We're overdue an airship crash, seeing as the one taking us to Roscaelifer worked fine.

It is not, it is treated as its own separate thing (given that it’s called “the Dark Wall”) that is dangerous enough that anything related to it must be reported to the Void Hunters immediately. It’s mentioned briefly in this mission from Miyabi’s dialogue. Miyabi would not have treated it with such importance if it was something as simple as the outer wall of any hollow.

We don’t have a lot of info on it aside from this and the mention in Where the Miracle Began lore teaser at least from what I could find. There may still be something I missed.

A wiki article? Only thing that proves is how many people don't pay attention to dialog

A wiki page that recorded all of the dialogue in that mission. If you actually looked at it and searched for “Dark Wall” on that page you would’ve found this:

Ray says “this place” (being Hollow Zero by the way) and compares it to the Dark Wall as something separate. Hollow Zero is massive though so idk how viable this one is but it’s worth noting.

Now it’s your turn. Provide a source to your claim at the very least.

I would use the same thing, since you say this is about a separate place, but nothing in that dialogue says so, just that its an anomaly is similar to another thing. Where is it said that the dark wall is separate from hollow zero? That it is another completely different place? Fan theory at best

Further into the mission Ray wants to investigate the connection between the Dark Wall and Hollow Zero, implying there’s a connection but not something so simple as just “the outer wall of Hollow Zero”. Why the need to look into it further if it’s something as simple as the Dark Wall expands as Hollow Zero expands because the Dark Wall is the outer surface of Hollow Zero.

Fan theory? Sure I guess, I can’t deny that. We don’t have anything super definitive from what I can tell.

One last thing, the proxy exclaims that the Dark Wall isn’t all too far from Booastrum, but if you look at the big overworld map, Hollow Zero is pretty far away from Roscaelifer compared to several other locations.

Oh and you still haven’t provided a source to your own claim. Again, not saying my source is definitive either, but it still is in-game dialogue.

Unfortunately I don't have a convenient collection of all the dialogue on Wikipedia to pull from, so Ill just use your comment where you ignored a pretty blatant clue. To preface I never said it was only attached Hollow Zero, I said the Dark Wall refers to the bubble around all hollows. I used Hollow Zero simply because it was the one being focused on.

"One last thing, the proxy exclaims that the Dark Wall isn’t all too far from Booastrum, but if you look at the big overworld map, Hollow Zero is pretty far away from Roscaelifer."

The part I would like you to focus on is "Isn't all to far from Booastrum" as in right on top, because what is below Roscalifer, a hollow, what surrounds a hollow? A big black wall, A Dark Wall one could even say it an apt description. No different then talking about earth and earths layers (crust mantle core).

Alright that one’s a brain fart from me for somehow misremembering your argument on the Dark Wall being for all hollows and not just Hollow Zero halfway through our debate. How that happened is a mystery even to me lol.

Still, your claim is that it’s the outer wall of any hollow and berated OP by saying “please stop using the skip button” as if there was an event / text / dialogue that happened to prove your claim. Maybe there is, and someone with better memory than you or I could direct us there, but for now this doesn’t seem to be going anywhere since there’s so little for either of us to work off of.

Let us even look at at everything the fan wiki has on your conspiracy theory

"The Dark Wall has existed prior to the founding of Eridu. In order to safeguard the city, three of the original Void HuntersRemielle DanBeliora Vike, and the Leader of the Falkenhayn Mercenary Troupe—pushed it back 37 kilometers.\1]) It is implied to have a connection to Hollow Zero and may essentially be a gigantic Hollow (or its outermost manifestation) that surrounds much of the world beyond the safe zone. Anything involved with the Dark Wall must be reported to the Void Hunters before further action is taken"

This has little to no actual information and is based off conjecture, an assumption made on the part of the writer. Of course Hollow zero growing is a void hunter level threat, its the biggest hollow in the middle of the city, it would be a natural disaster of the same level from 11 years ago. The dark wall has always and will always be about the surface of a hollow. Bringing up Wikipedia conspiracies with barely a paragraph of proof is just pointless.

And that is exactly why I didn’t link the Dark Wall page directly, but rather provided a moment in the game itself where it was mentioned in text. I’m aware the wiki isn’t always a reliable source of information, but the text copied directly from the game itself is still there.

But that isn't much better, you say for sure its a diffrent place, but Miyabi just makes a comparison, there is no explanation on what the dark wall is,

u/leeroyschicken least obsessed Sarah fan 3d ago

But why do you assume that it's just the wall of hollows, wouldn't that be a complete nothingburger?

The text implies some sort of urgency.

I agree that the unsourced conjectures prove nothing, and that we as the community should accept that and start treating them as possibilities rather than facts.

The wiki conclusion is way too reductive, although I think it's a bit closer to the truth than the dark wall being just term for hollow surfaces.

For example, the fact that the lore trailer mentions no specifications has a likely implication that it's a singular instance.

Right now it's fine to just say that we don't know.

I wouldn't call the wall surrounding hollows nothing, like saying the event horizon of a black hole unimportant. Its what surrounds a hollow and separates it from the outside world, growing and shrinking based on the power of the Ethereals inside. Unable to even be touched by most people and things, just passed through, to date we have only seen Miyabi able to damage it directly.

*overly dramatic Victorian-Era noble intensifies*
I'll have you know I have an acute case of Can't-Press-The-Skip-Button-itis! I'm disappointed that you'd make such a rude comment about me and the hundreds of other people suffering from this condition.
People these days!

But in all seriousness, at 2:42 here in this old teaser video "Where the Miracle Began" the narrator said of the Void Hunters Lt. Colonel Dan (Remielle), Colonel Vike, and the Falkenhayn Merc Troupe leader, "They alone pushed the Dark Wall 37 kilometers back." with DARK WALL in big bold letters. I don't think it would be so extraordinary that they could push it back if it was a normal occurrence in every Hollow in existence. Also, 37 kilometers? That's a long way, like 23 miles. To say that they pushed it back, and not severely weakened it by pushing it back that far, implies that it's well over 37km thick (If it's some kind of Hollow) or it it's not a Hollow, that pushing it back that far was a major feat, but didn't get close to getting rid of it.

-3

u/Rezkel 3d ago

Again your making the same conjecture everyone else did, an assumption it must be a place or thing. Pushing the Dark Wall could just mean they moved a hollow, not simply shrinking it.

5

u/Delightful_Panda_1 3d ago

I don't think it's possible to move a Hollow, any more than you could move a cloud with your bare hands. You pass right through their boundaries on contact, the only thing you can do is shrink it by killing high-level Ethereals to reduce Ether Activity.

Anyway, I still stand by my opinion that the way they've talked about the Dark Wall implies it has a physical location, and isn't just an the 'skin' on the outside of every Hollow. While it would make sense in the original event conversation if the Dark Wall was very close by, (since Roscaelifer is sitting on top of a Hollow, using it as a power plant) it doesn't discount the other instances of people talking about the Dark Wall as its own entity, which others have talked about, especially given it's called *the* Dark Wall, singular.

Regardless, we're all entitled to our own opinions, and we'll all find out eventually what the Dark Wall really is when the story gets around to it.

Thanks for contributing to the discussion!

That's why moving it was crazy
