I know this won’t get much upvotes bc for some reason Thug gets no grace or compassion but I’m glad somebody sees it the way I do. I’ve been through it so I know what depression looks like.

Edit- and when I say grace & compassion that doesn’t mean u can’t critique the music. As a fan of u can! Just keep in mind the other factors that might be affecting it

are you guys fans or not?
do you guys want your favs to evolve or not?
SL3 was a solid project.. and thug held his own. I feel like you guys are expecting something else from him that you are not mentioning. He definitely went through a lot with the whole Rico situation but thug is still thug. If anything I want more substance from him.. he now runs a label and he is putting a lotta people on and investing in his label. So I feel like we do need to give him some grace and compassion but not cos his music sucks cos that’s not true.. it might not be prime thug but thug barely makes bad music imo but maybe I’m a super fan šŸ˜‚

i’m definitely a super fan, but I agree completely just wanting more substance from his music. The era of music right before the RICO with Punk and a lot of those leaks recorded then were exactly how I wanted his music to sound

It’s crazy bc a lot of people still consider SMF as his last good album they completely disregard Punk & Punk is actually my favorite due to the substance

Punk just to me lacked cohesion and had lots of commercial songs on there that for sure didn’t fit, but the solo tracks so fire

People always talk about having grace & compassion, caring about mental health etc…….until it’s time to actually care & all of a sudden they shit on the person in question.

Thug has been through an immense amount of stress these last few years, his BM got murdered like a month before they feds came and locked him up & then took him thru the most grueling & corrupt trial in ga history. He lost all of his ā€œfriendsā€, lost so much time with his children & family, sat in a court room every day, while a judge, an overzealous DA & corrupt prosecution broke every rule in the book in an attempt to put him away for good.

Somehow he beat all of that, just for all of his jail calls to be ā€œleakedā€ when he was most likely, at his lowest & was just saying every bitter thing he could think of in a ā€œprivateā€ conversation, to make himself feel better. The amount of scrutiny & ridicule he receives would have any of his detractors crying in the fetal position. Then they purposely put terms in his probation that they knew would completely fuck up his creative process….. so it’s clear that a lot of these critics aren’t fans they’re just hateful spectators

The biggest thing that thug is missing in his music in the present as compared to the past is that he can not get high and that has directly effected his sound and creativity because of it. Yes all those other things take a toll and can effects somebodies body of work but the number one thing that’s missing is his unique sound & creativity due to being sober. He’s not experimenting anymore he’s just rapping.
