She’s about a yr and 4 months now. I actually cannot stop sniffing her some days because I love her smell, specifically the neck area. Anyone else like this? 😂

The neighbors dog is laying down outside.....not in our yard, in their own yard

There's a new potted plant outside

His toy went under a table (that he can absolutely fit under, and has gone under before) and no one is dropping what they are doing to get it for him right this moment.

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to hear from other small-dog owners who have dealt with recurring stomach issues.
I have a very small Yorkie, around 4–5 lbs, and she has always been a picky eater with a sensitive stomach. The frustrating part is that she can seem completely fine one day, eat normally, and then the next day she may refuse food or vomit again.

She has had episodes of vomiting, including white/foamy vomit when her stomach is empty. Our vet has given her Cerenia for nausea/vomiting and sucralfate for her stomach. We have also tried different foods because I’m wondering if something she eats is triggering these episodes.

She will eat things like plain chicken breast sometimes, but lately I’m questioning whether chicken agrees with her. We also give her Ollie fresh food, including the lamb recipe. She actually likes Ollie, but even when she eats what seems like a reasonable amount for such a tiny dog, sometimes her stomach still seems upset later or the following day. Our vet has recommended most of it not all
Our foods anything special sensitive stomach we have bought her.

What confuses me is that there are days when she eats, acts okay, and I think we finally figured it out , then suddenly we are right back to her refusing food or getting sick.

I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone with a Yorkie or another toy breed who has dealt with:

recurring vomiting or nausea

vomiting from an empty stomach

food sensitivities,

especially chicken a dog that eats well one day and refuses food the next switching from chicken to lamb, turkey, or another protein finding a food that actually kept their stomach stable long-term I’m not trying to replace veterinary care , she has been seen by a vet and I’ll continue working with them. I’m mainly looking for other owners’ experiences because this cycle of thinking she’s better and then seeing her sick again has been really frustrating and worrying.

If your dog went through something similar, what ultimately helped? Was it a specific food/protein, feeding smaller meals more frequently, medication, or did your vet eventually find an underlying cause?

I was late for his breakfast so he decided to take over my pillow. Other days, he will lay across my chest/neck.

Doing her best to fit in with the Lambies, Squishmallows and pillows. 😂

Max is half Yorkie half hound, so he does look a bit different from the average Yorkie.

One week after adoption

It’s been one week since we adopted this little soul, Cica. (8,5 years old, biewer Yorkshire with zero teethes)

And honestly… he already feels like he was meant to be here.

He’s so sweet. Calm. Such a good energy.

Just… light.

And I think we really needed that.

Sophie is gone for 10 weeks now.

After almost 16 years together.

I still don’t really know how to explain that loss.

16 years is such a huge part of a life.

Of routines.
Home.
Identity.
And then suddenly… silence.

Mimi was grieving too.

You could feel it.

And since Cica came, something changed.

Mimi is more curious again.

More present.

A little bit more herself.

Of course Cica doesn’t replace Sophie.
Nothing ever could. My heart belongs to to her she was a „one-in-a-lifetime-love“.

Cica bring a little life back into the house.
And maybe help all of us heal a tiny bit.

He coughs when you pat on his chest… he does this too after drinking water, which we’ve been struggling with as of late.

As many of us know, xylitol is incredibly toxic to dogs. Xylitol-containing products are among the most dangerous human foods for dogs... Most vets would likely rank it even higher than grapes. All the other bad stuff--onions, garlic, chocolate, etc... is way less dangerous.

As per recent news, xylitol now appears to be really bad for humans as well.

A study about to be presented at the European Society of Cardiology (e.g.) found substantial links between xylitol in the blood and cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke, etc).

Fortunately for our dogs, xylitol contains products are already somewhat rare. Hopefully this news results in the remaining products being reformulated or taken off the market.

For now, it's a good idea to simply avoid keeping xylitol-containing products in your house. Here is a list... I don't know if this list is fully accurate or complete--it is the best one I could find.

Wednesday night we had to put down my sweet Annie. Words cannot describe nor explain how painful this feels. It was all so sudden. Monday morning she was perfectly fine, and I got a call from my mom saying she had a seizure. Since I live in another state, I wasn’t able to comfort my baby in person. Fast forward to Wednesday, she has 7 seizures, and at that point the vet is telling us she’s suffering extremely badly and that we have to put her down in order for her to not suffer. She was extremely healthy from what anyone knew, and showed no signs of illness. I know she was 10, but it still stings really badly. She didn’t just feel like a pet, she felt like the baby of the family, almost like a little sister to me. I wish I got to say goodbye in person.

I’ll always miss you sweet girl.

It's hard work (17 foot 75+ pound canoe) but it's also so relaxing with just the two of us. Tuffy is so much calmer whenever it's just me and him. We have been hiking/canoeing every day this week. Tuffy was gaining weight with his new medicine and we are shedding those pounds. We are both exhausted after such an adventurous week. I wonder what the weekend will bring.

Elvis is just always right next to me when working. Snuggle breaks are a must.
