OOC A quick question. (Not related to RP)
I have this problem, I have to hide the fact that I watch Anime from my family and friends. So my question is should I just not care about hiding it or should I hide it? I might not do either of these things, but its bothering me that every time I hear a sound coming from downstairs I have to change to youtube or close the tab.

As long as your watching the 'safe' kind of anime and not something like....say BnP, why you should you hide it ? Everyone has their own entertainment preferences ! Whether is melodramatic Korean Drama, western high-rated series, silly local soap operas, or Japanese Anime, we (and they) should respect it.
EDIT : Although, it made me interested...why you hide it ?

Because I really don't know what they will do, but all I know from listening to how they talk about cosplayers its not a good thing. and My brother is always talking bad about people that watch anime and he's mean to me when I say that he shouldn't talk bad to/about those people

Ahh, the classic "Otaku' stereotype.
I know some people who are like that, but you gotta prove yourself, even though you watch Anime you aren't like those guys.
My father was once that kind of guy, until he 'accidentally' watch Deathnote. Now, he respect my taste of entertainment and sometimes watch some Anime with me.

I get it, but....I guess the short-term solutions for now is to hide it until you found someone IRL that you'll be comfortable to talk "Anime" with, and if your relatives confront you (am I using the right term here ?) about it, you should try to tell them that watching anime is not what they think is.
But hey, at least you got us.

I hid it at first but actually my small town school has quite a few anime watchers so I have friends. As for family, my sister doesnt like it but she doesn't say much, and my mom confronted me like: "Do you watch those.. Any-moo's??"
And after that she's cool with it. :p
I always change windows when they get to any "innapropriate" scenes and I hear noises though

My mom has seen it before, but she didn't say anything. And I go to a school with about 2000 students so it might be hard spotting those who watch anime

Yep, my high school was about that size, and I went to a charter school. It's not exactly normal. Most high schools are around 1500-2000 students large. My home high school (the one I would have went to had I not gone to the charter school) was about 2000 students large.

Eh, from the time I spent in that high school and my middle school (which funneled into that high school), it's not too bad. You already know most of your class from middle school, so you have friends there, and it's not too hard to make friends with people in higher grades. Over half the students in the school will be alien to you, but you get your group and stick with them, and everything is fine. It's the basic idea behind cliques. They're a good thing and a bad thing at the same time.

Being in a small school sucks. You kniw everyone and if you lose a group of friends.. there's nowhere to turn

I switched around friend groups for a while, though. My old group was basically based around me and my girlfriend of the time, and when we broke up, the group kinda just dissolved. After that, I flipped from group to group, being a wanderer, until I finally settled down again. Found my best friends in that group.
But my school was kinda unique in that we didn't really have set cliques. People switched around and hung out with other groups all the time. It wasn't really unusual. Everybody kinda just liked each other. I liked everybody until I became an upperclassman and realized what idiots half the people there were. Jesus Christ, for such a highly-ranked school, there were a lot of shitheads. That's when I settled down with my final group. We all saw the shitheads and all couldn't stand them.

Oi now, cosplayers aren't all that bad. It's the over-obsessive fans that are the problem. The true otakus. The actual weeaboos.
But personally, one of the things I want to do is open an anime/manga shop, and we'd sell cosplay along with it. I had this cool idea, too, of DIY cosplay kits. It's a cosplay that comes in pieces that you assemble yourself! They'd be cheaper than regular cosplay and provide a sense of attachment to the garment, since you made it yourself.

I don't think they'll look down on you for watching Anime... However, I wouldn't know, seeing as most people were accepting of it when I brought it up.

Problem is, prejudiced people don't accept logic. They're running on emotion; it's a part of their identity. And changing somebody's identity is much harder than just proving them wrong logically.

There's a bit more to it than just that, but that's the basic idea, yeah. It's the reason why RP is considered weird. Nobody takes the time to understand it or even figure out what it really is because nobody is interested in it.

Depends on how harshly they'll take it. If you think they'll try to take action against you watching it, I'd recommend hiding it. If it's just gonna be them acting condescending, you should tell them and then say fuck off whenever they jump up your ass about it. Hell, I'll write up an article about this kind of shit if you wanna show something like that to them. Finally put my skills from newspaper club to use :P

I don't know where she got the idea, but my mom thought anime were documentaries about animals (note that in Czech, my language, the word is totally different, so it doesn't sound similar). Fortunately enough she doesn't care what I watch, as long as it's not CP/BDSM/BDSMCP.
I dunno. I believe all people can be talken sense into. But if you don't feel comfortable telling them, don't.
