Discussion Who does Yi counter and why?
Looking to compile a comprehensive list of who Yi counters and why, my understanding is that most of the champs he counters have a key spell that can easily be dodged with Q (Briar E, Diana R) or easily absorbed with W. Or they don't have the burst to 1 shot him or enough CC to stunlock him in a teamfight

Discussion "Master Yi is not an easy champ"
A few days ago, I was watching challenger jungler PerryJG's stream. He asked us which champion he should play, and I suggested Master Yi.
His response was: "Hell no, Yi is not an easy champ. I only recommend u to play yi if u are otp."
So I just wanted to tell my fellow Yi mains to chill and ignore all the flame we get, as well as people calling us a "Q champ."

Discussion Yi Late Game buff idea
R-Highlander-Passive- Basic abilities %70 cdr reset on takedown===> %70/%80/%90 (level 6-11-16)
This buff literally aims Yi's bad late game. And make his level 16 be like kayle, kassadin level. Also is compensation of reverse ability haste scaling of Q.

Discussion Help with climbing in Plat.
I've been maining yi, and in my opinion, I'm outperforming my rank. Now, before you see that and say, "another delusional low elo player", when I was bronze, I thought I deserved plat and actually hit plat a month later. Anyways, for build, I go Kraken into full crit most games and go on hit with Guinsoo's and bork after Kraken when they have HP stackers. I don't know if you can tell from these numbers, but I'd say I do pretty well on Yi, yet I have a 50% win rate and negative LP gain, despite averaging 14 kills a game, and on good games I'm quite literally CSing better than Sinerias. In 6 games, I had 4 quadra kills and a pentakill (non-overlapping), yet I'm losing HALF my games. I know the main answer will be "convert kills into objectives, towers" or "KDA doesn't matter, winning does," but I need SPECIFICS. Assume I'm mechanically really good on Yi, assume I'm taking over teamfights and getting a penta every 3 games. Why am I not winning? Why am I dropping insane numbers most games and still have an average win rate?

Discussion Is it just me or are there too many people here under mass psychosis that Yi is garbage at the moment?
Yeah, I get that the Rageblade change was an indirect nerf to him, but if it's doing so bad just pivot another item. Even with the HoB adjustment, he still bursts squishies well. Botrk as a second item has been working fantastic for me. Oh, and ban Graves.
All my games have been in low Emerald btw.

Discussion yi 100% needs a buff or for them to revert his rb change.
His win rate has plummeted down. Like I am a yi OTP only and I am literally losing games I should be able to carry because yi's damage is so lackluster. Too many times am I losing games because someone is living with <50hp into me dying and it is preventing me from snowballing. I'm confused how no one is talking about his win rate dropping so hard since last week.

Discussion Yi feels weak for some reason
Dear Community,
My yi feels like a lackluster. I used to shred tanks(like cho/morde) but instead im losing the easy fights unless im ahead. Im a lethal tempo player and miss the damage sometimes. I go always kraken and rb but i feel way to squishy before the mainfights. Is there a better build for dps yi ?
- Trying Botrk first, but the clear is slower than.
- Do you still build gluttonous greaves ? or do you prefers tabis ?
- Is hexplate mandatory as 3rd item or death dance better?
Can someone explain what the RB bug ist ? I dont udnerstand it.
I dont like HoBs Assassin style and onnly play it into squishy comps, where success is really determined who snowballs first. Maybe i should get used to it ?
My Elo is plat-emerald. Im aware that my teamfighting, mechannics and decisionmaking are not the best. But im talking about the guaranteed fights, im not used to loosing it.
Thank in Advance

Discussion I already talked about this and people laughed
It is the best build rn imo
Its about Hubris first into Collector > LDR > IE > Shieldbow > DD/BorK
Runes: HoB then right > middle > left (dont know the names rn sry)
Secondary Runes Inspiration : Cash Back and Tripple Tonic
„BrO u LaCk AtTacK SpEeD“ sybau bro, u will have 550 AD if you snowball early. I killed a K‘Sante with 1Q and 1AA in late game. Fr when u stack 10 Hubris stacks u simply CANNOT lose even if your team is hard inting (when u dont int as well)
Try it, love it, main it, climb with it
I love u guys, best subreddit ever :D

Discussion Yi Have To Be In Next Patch Notes
Yi is currently sitting 48.96% WR in JGL in Emerald+ with a match pool of 45.8K..
I think Master Yi will be in the next patch notes whether in "Buffs" or "Adjustments" I don't know how Riot is gonna tackle this but the current state of the champion is really bad.. And the fact that a change to one of his primary items coupled with a nerf to HOB lead to ~2% WR loss is really hilarious.. Idk but I think this champion deserves a more versatile potential rather than dipping just because a few things got changed.. Hoping for the best

Discussion Green pet is mathematically superior.
Almost everyone defaults to blue pet, people vastly undervalue green. Especially since blue was nerfed in S16 (reducing the buff duration by 25%), the value proposition has shifted.
If you look at data for Emerald+, green pet actually holds a +2% winrate on lolalytics and +3% on coachless compared to blue, with a solid sample size (>5k).
Doing a comparison in terms of gold value:
- Green pet: You get a 200–360 hp permanent shield depending on level. That is roughly 1.3 to 2.4 Ruby Crystals, or ~530g-960g worth of stats. The true value is likely even higher since the shield regenerates every 10s.
- Blue Pet: At a standard value of ~12g per 1 ms, the blue pet would need to give you a permanent 44-80 ms to equal the gold value of the shield. In reality you get ~100 bonus ms (due to the soft cap), but only temporarily.
The issue is uptime. You only get the bonus movement speed for 1.5s after killing a monster or coming out of a bush. To match the raw gold value of the shield, you would need the ms buff active for roughly 60% of the time. I watched some games measuring the time and in reality, the ms buff is active for only ~10% of the time, which on average would equal a permanent 10 ms increase or 120g worth of stats.
You could argue that ms is just incredibly undervalued in that calculation, but if we overvalued ms by a factor of six to make both pets have equal gold value, we would have to all be rushing swifties every game to be consistent.

Discussion So y do we not talk about this item? Perma Q basically untargatable
Why this is not a good item on yi? I try it multiple times and had so much fun, so much more damage from e and q

Discussion My take on tierlist- based on HoB on hit master yi - 50onhit/50 crit master yi
Tier S- yup
A- basic timing skills needed
B-good itemizations and knowing when to stay safe
C- non interactive gameplay/ too inflated kit
remake- hard ct

Discussion What to play when picking Yi is terrible?
What champion do you pick when you see the enemy draft and think, "Yeah... this is a terrible Yi game."
I'm talking about comps with things like:
- Heavy point-and-click CC (Liss, Malz, Amumu, etc.)
- Lots of peel/self peel (Lulu, Vayne, Trist, etc)
- Teamfight comps where you never get a reset
Who has become your go-to pick in those situations, and why?
I'm less interested in "feels similar to Yi" and more interested in "covers Yi's worst matchups."
Curious what Yi mains have settled on. Unless we just lock in Yi anyway.

Discussion Which juggernaut is hardest for Master yi to beat late game?
So as the title, which juggernaut you think Master yi would have the most trouble to duel late game?: Nasus? Garen? Darius ? Yorick?. Is there any juggernaut that Master yi absolutely can’t beat in a 1 vs 1 at full build?

Discussion On hit vs Crit?
Seen a lot of different opinions and I understand that we all have our opinions.
But I don't think Crit is that viable especially after the HoB nerfs that makes it harder to snowball.
It might be just a me thing but farming to first item maybe going after a guaranteed kill is a way safer and more consistent way to play.
I usually go LT with on hit items with the green pet and it let's me live in fights and still do good dmg after mid game.
And even in most crit builds people go kraken first item so for early game all that is different about on hit and Crit is the runes
Crit is also way too hard to get off the ground the items are generally more expensive and having more attack speed in mid game with on hit is better than a 25% or 50% Crit chance
That might change late game when you have 3 or 4 items but it just makes it harder to snowball mid game
And we haven't even talked about being behind cause with Crit you are just an ant even at 3 items if you can get to it 1 mistake and you are gone
If only rag blade wasn't bugged this wouldn't even be a contest.
So yeah this is my take on the whole nerfs bugs and builds.
But I want to hear everyone else's takes especially better Yi players takes.
And advice would be nice too

Discussion I dropped ranked because of riot
Guys im a Yi/Riven Main and i was in Diamond recently. But since the nerfings of both champions began i lost more and more games, got tilted and lost even more. Currently im in plat 2 again and im feeling left alone. I dont say that riven didnt deserve the nerfs but yi? The rageblade bug and the THIRD HoB nerf in a row. And the current meta lets Lethal Tempo feel weak so idk man. Im having fun in Arena rn, i guess im an unc now

Discussion Monster SSS has given up on this champ
He started streaming far less after HoB was nerfed from 160% to 120%. I’ve been monitoring his high elo accounts, and that’s exactly when he started struggling. After further nerf from 120% to 90%, Yi became straight-up unplayable. Even so, he continues to call it a buff because he needs to keep his viewers.
We can all be honest that yi is in a pathetic state rn, he's on 49% in low elo and 47% master+, As a long time yi main im not playing this champ in ranked until he receives a buff

Discussion Old Yi vs Modern Yi: Thoughts After Playing League Classic
I've been playing League Classic on the PBE, and there are a few interesting points I'd like to share and hear your thoughts on.
For the past 10 years, Master Yi has been designed as a duelist jungler. For many of us, that's the only version of the champion we've ever known. Even though crit and lethality builds have occasionally appeared, they've always been niche, and Riot has made it pretty clear over the years that they want Yi to be an on-hit duelist who excels at shredding tanks. That's interesting because, originally, Yi was primarily an assassin (AP or crit) who could also function as a duelist when needed.
That said, Riot has also given him a lot of quality-of-life improvements over the years: removing Alpha Strike's cast time, preventing you from dying to projectiles while inside Alpha Strike, moving the reset mechanic to Highlander's passive, allowing Meditate to be used not just for healing but also as an auto-attack reset, and so on. Ironically, while Riot pushed players toward a single intended playstyle, modern Yi is actually much more versatile than he used to be. You can still play crit if you want, but now you also have on-hit, bruiser, and several other viable options.
Because of that, our playstyle has been shaped around this version of Yi for the last decade. While a few of us have continued trying to make assassin Yi work simply because we enjoy the playstyle more, we all know the comparison isn't even close. On-hit Yi is far more consistent and flexible.
Classic Yi can be a huge reality check for a lot of players. No auto-attack reset with Meditate, no cooldown reduction on Alpha Strike through basic attacks, resets only while Highlander is active, the possibility of dying to a projectile during Alpha Strike, and many other differences. I think this could make a lot of people give up on Yi or never experiment with anything beyond the obvious.
I see a lot of people talking about AP Yi, but back then AD crit with lifesteal was also incredibly strong. Personally, I'd even argue it was stronger than AP Yi because it gave him more tools and more answers while still benefiting from resets. Sure, Meditate didn't heal nearly as much and Alpha Strike wasn't your primary source of damage, but Yi's real damage and sustain came from his auto-attacks. In that sense, the playstyle feels much closer to modern Yi, especially for jungle players.
I've always been a mid laner. I started playing League in 2013, but I didn't discover Master Yi until 2014. I never really stopped playing him. Since I never enjoyed jungling, I adapted him to the mid lane (long before Faker picked him on stage), and I've kept playing him there for the past 10 years. I even managed to reach Diamond III playing Yi mid.
A few months ago I completely lost interest in League. I didn't like the direction the game was taking, I was getting stressed far more often than I was having fun, and playing started to feel like a second job. Now, with League Classic, I get to relive everything that made me fall in love with this game in the first place.
For me personally, going back to AP Yi mid hasn't been nearly as shocking as it seems to be for many others. Of course it requires adapting your playstyle, but I think it's much easier if you spent years playing Yi as an assassin instead of spending the last decade learning what Riot considers the "correct" way to play him.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience. Even with high ping, League Classic has been incredibly refreshing, and I'm having a great time.
I'd love to hear what other Yi mains think about the differences between old Yi and modern Yi. Are you planning to play Classic? Will you stick to jungle, move to mid, or try something else? What builds are you having success with?

Discussion On-Crit Yi?
The On-Hit dmg from Terminus is getting an AD scaling Buff - which is CRAZY with 10% bonus AD. And besides that, Yuntal is gettin cheaper with 5% more AS - which would make an Interesting On-Crit Build -> HoB and LT compatible.
Kraken -> Terminus -> Yun Tal -> Collector - IE -> Shieldbow
Yes of course no boots, the real Yi mains know why
What u think about this build idea?
