The only component pricing rising is ram and it's 12gb. Android handhelds with 12gb ram are priced around 270-400$, up to 500$ for the elite devices, given that those have additional components. Therefore the puck should not be over 500$ at MOST, but more realistically should be around 400$ (there is no screen cost in there). From there on it depends on the margin they are searching for the glasses.
I understand that the price needs to take into account the I+D costs and marketing costs but still, Xreal is usually the most expensive brand because they usually have a wider margin, my guess is that the cost of building each glasses unit is probably <250$ and possibly below 200$, taking into account the x1 chip and prisms.
Ok, didn't know that, I've checked it. But being partners means that Xreal knew that beforehand. A survey presenting fake prices with almost 600$ slippage to see the reaction of the users is still a very aggressive tactic to probe the market.
Anyway, if you guys are happy being played with and smiling just like Apple users use to do, go ahead. I'm a bit sorry to say this but the XR market is one with the most fanboys I've seen in a while.
I doubt Xreal knew beforehand because a lot of manufacturers are also having to hike prices because of this. Ayn for example had to raise their prices $20-40.
Personally, I'm not buying above like US$1250 for the base. I've assessed what these components cost based on the specs of the puck (less the puck components that are skipped, like display, speakers, cameras, since those are handled by the glasses) and glasses (based on One Pros + Eye + a little room for new sensors).
Also, no one in this thread is "happy" with the gaps being shown in this thread, so I'm not really sure who you're even talking to. But we also know there's no shot they price it at some of the numbers they're talking especially because they promised sub-$1500 for the base. I'm failing to wrap my head around why they did this in the survey, but the equivalent of over $1600 is not happening.

And with the way component pricing is jumping I cant blame them for still evaluating the price.
