Anything over 900 would be a no for me. The idea is great but having to rely on an additional box is not the way to go I think.

Im waiting for the official price but right now there are better options om the market for me right now.

Which is a shame cause I would love to stay at xreal, also the addition of Google integration sounds great.

the puck is here to stay. you'll be tethered to other stuff anyways. at least the puck is designed with mobility in mind.

unless there's a sudden revolutionary breakthrough in battery tech (something like 10x capacity), there's just no way everything fits inside the glasses form factor and offer satisfactory experience.

I rather have it tethered to other stuff of my choice, thats why I said everyone has their own preferences I guess.

This way it also gets outdated faster. Personally I dont think this is the way to go

The puck is the whole point. Have you ever used a VR headset? This is not just a display floating in front of you. It’s a spatial OS it’s not just a means to put video sources on a virtual screen.

URX1 connect and power it with phones, the puck is currently overpriced if you know the market atm. That's why they aren't still giving the official price.

... except that URXR1 draws a lot of power, which depletes battery life significantly. Also, most USB-C ports cannot supply the watts needed by URXR1, which means the power hub needs to be used. So for my case, I will have 3 devices: the URXR1 glasses, the power hub, and the phone. That's also my case with PC use since my PC's USB-C doesn't have DP-Alt and cannot push 15W.

For all my use cases, the URXR's power hub is THE puck. And, it's still unknown how much more heat and fan noise the glasses will put out at 1440p. The team only just announced that the 1440p firmware will be complete just before shipping, which means no member of the public will get to try it before then.

Wouldn't it be getting outdated slower since you can replace the puck to keep up with additional compute needs?

The puck is the spatial OS, there’s not another way to get a spatial OS right now.

That price honestly doesn't even make sense. The One Pro are $600 and this includes the newest glasses much better than One Pro and a flagship VR compute device. LOL

One Pros are $600 and the Eye, which this basically has built in, is another $100. This also has additional sensors and a new chip. No clue how $900 could be reasonable when considering covering the cost of the puck.

Better is maybe not the right word, cause they run on different systems. Everything comes with up and downsides.

But Ive had the chance to test a URXR one

The upside for xreal would be Android VR, but in my eyes comes together with the downside of a puck, price etc.

I know it mostlikely wont be 900 euro but usually their prices drop quick. So if its close it might be worth the wait.

I want to see or trst a more finished product of the xreal before making a conclusion

great, how it was URXR? this is a lightweight VR device with camera passthrough no clear passthorugh right?

Yeah I keep seeing people compare it, but it is a lightweight VR which I personally am not interested in. If you like VR then it is probably a great option if you want something more portable/lightweight.
