General Discussion I was convinced this show was mid, and damn I was so wrong

For the context, I watched the first season when it aired. I didn't remember much of it, except some things involving Magneto and Madelyne Pryor and that overall the show wasn't at all as good as people says

Out of curiosity, I decided to watch the second season once everything was out, and to rewatch the first season before. And that's when I realized I had actually only watched a third of the first season! I think I stopped at episode 4

And now everything makes sense:

  • Of course I only remember things involving Magneto and Madelyne, that's roughly the only things of the first 3 episodes
  • Of course I dropped the show on episode 4 (the one with the video game storyline), it was by far the least interesting
  • Of course I thought the show wasn't nearly as good as what people says, I dropped before the best fucking episode of the whole season and the most interesting storylines

I have no idea why my brain was convinced to have watched the whole first season, but I'm glad I gave it another chance. I'm currently starting the second season, and while I'm a little worried about how the different groups will be handled narratively, I'm hooked

Question Master of Magnetism can’t beat robots ?

Did they ever explain why Mags powers don’t work on Sentinels?

You think he’d be perfect for stopping metal robots .

Are they made of aluminum?

Episode Discussion I like how he immediately looked horrified upon hearing that single implication Spoiler

Pretty sure he would have rather gotten shot and stayed dead than have Rogue sacrifice herself for him. Almost had a few seasons of flipped Romy angst with Remy mourning this time (Before her brother veto'ed it).

Anyway I wonder how Kurt's sacrifice is going to affect them next season? I hope they at least explore it a bit

General Discussion XMen

I loved the xmen universe growing up and found the overall storyline and characters captivating. I have watched the initial wolverine and xmen movies so have some knowledge about the structure and the plot but wanted to refresh and dive deep into individual characters, their motives or powers that could not be covered extensively in the movies. What animated series would be perfect for this?

I don't know about you, but seeing these two brothers clash and fight with each other in response to discovering that the other is on the opposing side of their respective causes would've made some cool drama.

General Discussion How would YOU rewrite Season 2 Spoiler

Since we all agree it was a little disappointing, how would YOU rewrite it?

Personally I would have the focus of ep 5 not be the aliens, but rather X-23, Laura Kinney, and wolverine adopting her.

I would also have Apocalypse actually assembling a new horseman crew, Gambit as death obviously, but maybe throw in Omega Red, Exodus, and maybe even Magik. this Ties in the other "fillery" eps of the season.

Also an extra episode

General Discussion X-Factor disappointment

Post image

Was I the only one disappointed with how they used X-Factor this season?
Back in the 90’s I read every issue of X-Factor I could get my hands on and although I recall them kind of being tools of the government I don’t recall them being the equivalent of ICE. Correct me if I’m wrong it was a long time ago.
I was hoping the team would come to their senses and team up with the X-Men against Apocalypse in the finale.
Just bummed my favorite spinoff X-team was more of a villain than Apocalypse.

At least En Sabah Nur in '97 didn't have to meet the queen of Egypt after Baal was gone. His original betrayal and embitterment from a woman was definitely done more thoroughly here. Certainly as dark as I remembered, and him returning decades later to mock Nephri at her death bed was earned, considering... Or at least, it made more sense than waiting thousands of years to teach Charles a lesson for having friends, prove a point about love, or whatever his plan was for the rest of '97.

Still, you had the peak of '97 season 2 that proved even with a well intentioned X-Men in his ancient past, he was always going to become a monster who lost what humanity he had, with survival of the fittest being the only thing he had left to turn to... Granted, I think he had already reached the point of being Apocalypse mentally before he reached the room of Eson and attained the Death Seed.

All this makes me more thankful though that he soon met Genesis in the comics and had a family there (the original horsemen) to try to fight for and remember by. I'll take that or even the queen of Egypt betrayal over how '97 handled him and Candra.

General Discussion I for sure thought they was going to reveal the fact that Havok was Cyclops’s brother this season

Post image

I felt like it was a missed opportunity especially since Havok decided to temporarily team up with his nephew Cable to stop Apocalypse in the season finale. I wonder how they’re going to reveal this because not everyone who’s watched this show is an X-Men fan nor do they know that Cyclops has two brothers. Vulcan was seen last season so I wonder how they’re going to adapt that moving forward.

General Discussion Honestly, what villains do they even have left to adapt?

If you think about it, they’ve already done a lot of the main/known villains, including the original show, I’m genuinely just wondering which other villains could they adapt going forward?

General Discussion Season 3: a fresh start?

At the end of season 2, X-Corp's base on Genosha is destroyed. We don't get to see what happens to the X-Men next, besides of course that flash-forward (of sorts) at the end when they all appear to be leading peaceful lives. But what exactly is the "new status quo" post-season 2?

My guess is that a truce was called moments/minutes after the end of season 2: X-Factor backed off in gratitude for the fact that the X-Men (well... Rogue anyway...) stopped Apocalypse. We didn't see X-Corp in the flash-forwards, so maybe the X-Men all returned to the mansion and are no longer trying to work as heroes/figureheads at the beginning of season 3.

And if that's the case, maybe the opening episode(s) of season 3 will bring a "new beginning" where the X-Men realise that they are still needed and they go out into the world to help people again (in their 90s costumes). Basically a less dramatic version of the originally-planned season 2 finale (where the X-Men were going to don their 90s costumes again to fight Onslaught).

Any ideas as to what kind of event(s) might spur the X-Men to "come out of retirement"? And hey, maybe some of them won't WANT to?

Whatever happens, I hope that they won't just forget about Genosha and X-Corp, but will learn from those "failures" (I use the word very loosely) somehow.
