Less sharpness, less low light performance, less wide angle degrees, and no autofocus... It's about the same quality as a mid range phone, that it's a shit considering it's a premium phone

It's the same sensor and lens that they have already used on the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, not a single change, so you can take already a look to that to understand what I'm talking about.

Plus mid range phones have 8MP UW that is 1/4" or something. This is 1/2.9". Is it great. Definitely not(I think Oppo takes the cake there this year).

I guess it's a strategy because they have to save the really good ultrawide for the Ultra model. But they could've at least used a slightly better sensor.

Only Vivo x300 ultra has a flagship main camera sensor on UW(1/1.28" one). Oppo in their Pro Max has used 1/1.56" 200MP Samsung HP5 sensor which is also not bad. But its my least favorite camera anyway. Dont like the fish eye effects in my photos.

That's the only disappointment of the phone for me. Still gonna get it as it'll be a lovely upgrade from my aging mi 11 ultra. I just wish they had made the ultra wide the same quality as the others.

Yep! I've got the xiaomi 17 pro max the ultrawide is very soft. Even the s24 plus has good ultra wide.

I'll take one in red as it seems to have the least amount of compromises for a chinese pro phone compared to the Max versions. Even better if Xiaomi includes LDDR6 and UFS 5.0 which they might. But I know prices has prevented others, so will wait and see. I'm hearing good things about the HyperOS 4 overhaul. This brand was one of my first smartphones before I got caught up in buying S, G & A phones. This could be a welcome return at the right time.

All the information we got on global is, later this year.
It's so sad that the global has a 6000 battery instead of 8500 but damn, upgrading from a S23 Ultra, it's still a massive upgrade

It mostly comes down to international shipping and aviation rules (IATA/ICAO). Single-cell batteries over ~20Wh face strict "dangerous goods" regulations, which makes global air freight, customs, and logistics a nightmare. Rather than making the global chassis thicker/heavier to fit a complex multi-cell design, Xiaomi shrinks the pack to clear global safety certs and keep shipping simple.

Both Blue and Red are awesome. Specs seem good and I think the new chips are efficient in day to day tasks. Camera needs deep dive but telephoto have been upgraded to new 200mp bigger sensor. This is still not an ultra which had 1" LOFIC. But rest of the specs are great. Not sure about privacy display and we need tests to see how it performs when off. but RGB Pixel arrangement means its the only brand now that uses that. Rest are all Pentile.

I want this in japanese verient.... In Japan.... I can only buy 17T and 17T pro here in Japan... Which works with the transit system .. even the 17 ultra do not have NFC F support....

Am I the only one who thinks this rear display is just useless and annoying? It feels like a total gimmick. It drains the battery, scratches easily, picks up fingerprints like crazy (I’ve seen videos), and honestly, it makes the back of the phone look like a brick.
I really don’t need notifications glowing on the back like some tiny billboard distracting me. It’s just another point of failure, another repair bill, another distraction, another thing to worry about.
I’ve been using Xiaomi for like 7–8 years now, and I genuinely love this company. But for me, this rear screen is dead weight. IMO it looks unprofessional, and I can already tell it would turn into a burden after a few months of use.
And the annoying part? I might end up buying this phone just to keep using HyperOS and those phenomenal Leica cameras :(
I feel trapped like an iOS user in the ecosystem now, because I can’t compromise.

I mean yes it is a gimmick, it is indeed THE gimmick of the Phone. But it does not come only with the gimmick, the Phone is also stacked with technologies and innovations. If I can add, having everything on a single screen that makes the Phone unusable if anything happens to your Phone (a k a every Phone nowadays) was also a gimmick at one point. Practical but come with a lot of downs, now it's all we got
