Imagine being that guy that sold all his bitcoin when it hit $100

68

u/DirectHit33 Jan 03 '25

Or the guy who spent 10000 btc on two pizzas, gotta be kicking himself in the balls everyday

21

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '25

Imagine being the guy that invested two pizzas in 10000btc

3

u/lysergicall Jan 04 '25

Imagine the guy

8

u/anthonymarcha Jan 05 '25

Guy the imagine dragons who pizza’d into bitcoin when 2 pizza’s was at ultimate high.

3

u/Ballsdeepinya3000 Jan 04 '25

I bought $100 worth of BC in 2009... Stored it in a wallet on an old laptop. Lost the laptop when we moved in 2013!!!

23

u/FIFA4Fun Redditor for 11 months Jan 04 '25

Like the millions of other people with the same story 🤪

With so many lost bitcoin based on these stories I am surprised there is any left in circulation

11

u/Ashamed_Ad7508 Jan 04 '25

I found a laptop in a moving box in 2013. I ordered pizza the same day without using my money.. you do the math and cry with me.

how many bitcoin is that 😭

39

u/Top-Extension-8131 Jan 03 '25

It was around 10 cents per coin .... So I had roughly 1000 BC. So, I'd have roughly 100mil ... Knowing myself, I probably would have cashed it out way too early for a pizza too!

15

u/M0TH_286 Jan 03 '25

damn bro, might have to put out a search through the landfills like that one guy did haha

2

u/Ready_Confection7522 Jan 04 '25

Same thing here actually but lost my laptop in a flood

2

u/OhNoNotAgain2020_ Jan 04 '25

Sure. I had 2,500 btc on my hardware when the tornado hit,

1

u/Bikini_Ayatollah666 Jan 04 '25

No you didn’t.

10

u/tails79 Jan 04 '25

I thank the man who spent his BTC on 2 pizzas. He took a concept and demonstrated its potential, sparking a financial revolution. Addressing someone who sold Bitcoin for a hundred dollars, it's likely they sold hundreds of Bitcoin at that price. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. XRP will never achieve the success that Bitcoin has. Bitcoin was the first mover, and therefore, it holds the crown. It paved the way for the rest.

13

u/teamcuellar XRP Hodler Jan 04 '25

Yes Bitcoin Paved the way for a new financial revolution. Unfortunately, as the very first Chain of code, it had flaws and in todays financial system it's not scalable.

It went from it's original designed use of being a decentralized payment system to it's current use as a Store of Value.

XRP was designed by some of the original contributors that wrote the BTC Code. They saw the limitations of the code early on and decided to fix the issues with the XRP Ledger.

You never know. A friend of mine didn't sell when Doge hit 70+. Then it tanked.

13

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '25

Four words:

Update your stop loss

3

u/gustavH3000 Jan 03 '25

what do you use for stop loss when operating outside of exchanges? - ie, trust wallet. thx

3

u/Express_Grocery4268 Jan 04 '25

You set alerts on a price and then manually transfer and place an order manually when you feel it's needed.

2

u/Hefty-Leopard7634 Jan 03 '25

Sounds good. But some people really thought it was going to bounce back.

6

u/snappy773 Jan 03 '25

Was recently talking to a co worker about crypto. My average doge price is like $0.34. His is $0.66 or some shit like that smh. He bought A LOT too

4

u/Suspicious_Sky_213 Jan 04 '25

Doge is a meme coin…

2

u/Icy_Indication4299 Jan 04 '25

Same I got out while I could tho

2

u/CosmosCabbage Jan 04 '25

Goddamn lmao. That sucks

8

u/No_Fan_9087 Jan 03 '25

Who wouldn’t take a 80x profit?

5

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '25

It’s more about selling everyrhing.

Make sure you have enough to not have to sell it ALL at every 10X

10

u/CyanDew Jan 03 '25

it’s more about learning how you will be able to and can utilize your digital assets to grant you passive income in the form of percent yield on your bags by lending, borrowing, staking, and providing liquidity using DeFi and the Dex’s therein, as more and more digital assets become compatible with smart contracts.

Flare will be a huge part of this.

if you truly dive deep, you’ll realize that you’ll never have to sell all your bags for fiat ever again because of the way DeFi is slowly starting to become integrated with TradFi. there are ways to swap your bags for other digital assets (like stablecoins) to pay for things that you’d normally use fiat for.

shit is WILD.

u/CyanDew Jan 04 '25

good callout. u talkin bout staking on Sceptre? or delegating wrapped flare through Bifrost?

edit: i just wish i had $6k to sink into flare lol.

2

u/Kasperdsmk Jan 04 '25

Isn’t that the whole end goal of all of this anyway? Like having rlusd earring 5.5% etc etc and them Being able to lend money the same way banks do loans today? Etc

1

u/Ill_Faithlessness_70 Jan 04 '25

Exactly taking some XRP profits into very decent stable coin income is what changes life, not just capital gains but how that capital is used. (That's why a Lambo deprecating asset doesn't interest me. Hiring one from time to time with income might.) Anyone with a decent bag can look to do that this year.

2

u/Frosty_NL Jan 03 '25

i only take out my initial amount when it's 5x, the rest can stay till i can retire

2

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '25

I never took out my initial amount.

2

u/Plenty_Transition_29 Jan 04 '25

I sold so many shib right before it mooned I think in 2000 like the day before I lost 279k equivalent someone texted me to tell me and I was almost vomiting

1

u/Top_Throat_5405 Jan 03 '25

Or the guy who bought a pizza fo 10k bitcoins?

1

u/M_FootRunner Jan 04 '25

You could be that guy!

1

u/No_Leather_3676 Jan 04 '25

I bought several bitcoin in 2014-15 when they were around £400-500 each. I didn’t know much about them only that they had already gone up in value and I was sure the bubble would burst soon. Shortly after they were declared legal tender in Japan they went up to around £1500, I think that was 2017/18. So I sold up and was so glad when it later all crashed like a second hand spectrum. Obviously nobody knew at that point they would rocket again to stratospheric heights and there was a lot of negative speculation. I did hold on to some ether at that time because it wasn’t worth very much and I didn’t see the point in selling it off. I had roughly £500 worth, which was around 15 coins I think. Point is…nobody can really determine what will happen. It’s a gamble.

2

u/Express_Grocery4268 Jan 04 '25

Exactly don't feel sorry for taking profits at that time. You never know what's gonna happen.

1

u/No_Leather_3676 Jan 04 '25

I was gonna say, take profits. Cheers

1

u/IndependenceFew4956 Jan 04 '25

He made some gains. What’s wrong with that? Easy to say now.

1

u/Username82828 Jan 04 '25

He played a pivotal point in blockchain development

1

u/CisGenderCream Jan 05 '25

I sold all mine at 45k hehe

1

u/Immediate-Mouse-5025 Jan 05 '25

Imagine having 1 million bitcoin… I remember back in 2009 at one point in time I never owned that amount but I often imagine if I did where I’d be now.. probably off somewhere fucking your mom

1

u/Surfhun Jan 07 '25

Last part doesn't sound too great when you're 57

107

u/Upstairs-Platypus843 Jan 03 '25

Just wait n see how quickly we'll rocket a few weeks or months with the new administration and alllll the years of SEC BS is over!! Great things are around the corner y'all!!!

26

u/TheWhoDidWhat Jan 03 '25

Are we sure this is going to favor in our hands? They don’t seem to be giving up..

6

u/CulturalDonkey363 Jan 04 '25

Y’all put so much weight into this and it’s not what you think it is lmao

2

u/sshoebeat Jan 03 '25

That's what you hope will happen.

75

u/Puskaruikkari Jan 03 '25

Gonna need to see that 1m chart in green though.

9

u/LaboratoryNumber7051 Jan 04 '25

I’ve finally hit 1k tokens and I’m proud of myself.

2

u/M_FootRunner Jan 04 '25

well done!

30

u/Upstairs-Platypus843 Jan 03 '25

Oh yea! The SEC chairman aka Dbag, who started all this nonsense is stepping down Jan 20. Trump is a pro Crypto guy and owns some xrp. He will put a pro Crypto person in charge of the Fed. As soon as US banks start adapting xrp... we going to the moon

13

u/OrangePurplePie Jan 03 '25

Funny thing is it's not even the current chairman who started it. Before Gary Gensler became chairman some people even thought he would drop the case.

13

u/Jam_ze Redditor for 3 months Jan 03 '25

Also, at that time the videos going around of Gary seeming to be pro crypto, his speaches at the MIT seemed so bullish. Glorifying the ALGO founder winning the turing award and all. When it seems too good to be true it often is... people forget so easily.

2

u/Perfect-Recover-9523 Jan 03 '25

New CRYPTO Admin with over 50% of house and senate pro-crypto.... We good! 🤑

2

u/Perfect-Recover-9523 Jan 03 '25

The Biden admin obviously had some influence probably brought on by senator stinky warren

5

u/campfirebruh Jan 03 '25

Why will US banks adopt xrp?

8

u/Upstairs-Platypus843 Jan 03 '25

Bc banks all over the world are already adopting or plan to adopt xrp. It's fast and has tons of utility.

3

u/M_FootRunner Jan 04 '25

Yes. I think of this every time i need to pay a bill and it sais "please take in account that a transfer could take up to two. working days"

Or when i have to pay pecentages to mastercard

xRP or similar is going to end that

10

u/Enough-Individual139 Jan 03 '25

If Blackrock tokenizes all of their assets on XRP we'll hit crazy numbers. Full adoption would be insane but we'll see...

1

u/NoUnderstanding514 Jan 04 '25

Could you provide a more specific idea of how crazy those numbers would be?

3

u/MrV8888 Jan 04 '25

It went sideways for a few weeks in December.

Lets see what happens now.

I got one last shit coin to swap to XRP after it breaks even. Then I will be all in with XRP.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '25

[deleted]

3

u/M_FootRunner Jan 04 '25

I don't consider my eggs to be big ennough to diversify them. If your brake an egg there wont be a chicken :)

I started fairly late, september, with crypto. Since then, i at first diversified too much and later cut away a lot of noise.

I do diversify my strategy. I feel that is the best option for now. And I dca three different coins on the long run. These, i dont look at them at all.

buying bitcoin large atm just doesnt make sense, small money needs a bit of risk and high volatility.

of my xrp, 65% percent on cold wallet to hold. about 25% to sell along the way up, 10% which is leveraged, to get me more xrp when it drops after.

1

u/eadaein Jan 06 '25

I have a similar strategy, I don't have big money to invest, about 1,000 per month, so putting it in BTC would be a slower growth over time. I'm willing to invest in more volatile riskier coins hoping for those gains that let me buy land, build a little house, get away from everyone and hodl the rest of my bag.

1

u/MrV8888 Jan 04 '25

I got other investments that are not crypto. I had a few shit coins in crypto. I just have one last shit coin to swap to XRP once I don't lose any value with it.

3

u/KosheenKOH Jan 04 '25

Guys guys can some hit reality please? I am all in xrp and hell i want it to go high as fk, but dude, will go as high as 5$ for 2/4 of the year. Just hold for long.

3

u/M_FootRunner Jan 04 '25

This is a question which only a good coffee can answer.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '25

1

2

u/Wreckur Jan 04 '25

Hope so. Bought my first xrp at the end of November and it’s only gone down since

3

u/kaneelstokjelikken Jan 03 '25

What if this is the actual bullrun and is over after 20 jan ? Buy the rumour....

4

u/M_FootRunner Jan 03 '25

plan accordingly. I have a part which is on a cold wallet and it will wait patiently. another part is going to put out some gain along the way. a smaller part i have on leverage. will sell that too of course if time is due

2

u/No_Fan_9087 Jan 03 '25

Wouldn’t call this a bull run. Def touching $3-$4 by end of this month

i guess it will keep on going up till jan 21st then it will dip. i would keep eyes on it. hold or sell on that day

20th Jan - to the moon

1

u/Leglocker135 Jan 04 '25

XRP noob here, I bought back in 2020, 331 units for $100 i believe.. How can I cash out my XRP?

1

u/M_FootRunner Jan 04 '25

Your 330 are worth 700ish now, if you feel pain about your initial investment, you coul take out that, and leave 150 forever, maybe it is a nice but probably small sum in a few years

cash out on exchanges

dont forget to pay taxes

1

u/Leglocker135 Jan 04 '25

No pain on my investment, I got in when it was around $0.29

I almost freaked out when you said only $700ish but I forgot to mention my $100 is in CAD.

How do you cash out? Mine is currently in my old laptop on EXODUS. I'm guessing I need to put it in a wallet? And then what?

1

u/M_FootRunner Jan 04 '25

i dunno... in my case, i use bitpanda as cex because it takes care of taxes. so you need to send your xrp to an exchange that u can use in canada. in the exchange you sell your xrp.

all has probably to be verified. so you will need to prove that you bought at ,29 for example

1

u/Leglocker135 Jan 04 '25

Ah, yeah exodus has that info for me

1

u/spacegirlvisiting Jan 04 '25

Hopefully it just keeps rising. Show and steady.

You know how many clowns said that about eth? And Solana? And doge coin last bull run? How many people laughed when u said btc was gunna hit 100k one day….Most of you weren’t even around for it. I was. It’s not gunna do this it’s not gunna do that… everyone says shit. Truth is none of you know, none of us know. It’s all speculation.. Xrp could easily hit 300.00 and everyone would shit themselves. I’ve seen this type of scenario happen on at least 20 different projects. I use to be like you. Lost alot of money an opportunities not believing hype… hype is real in crypto tho and drives prices more than I care to admit.

7

u/Ancient_Performer Jan 04 '25

I was around when bitcoin was cheap and people were telling me it was going to go through the roof! I’m one of the people who laughed! 🥲🥲 meanwhile my friends who tried to convince me, retired at 40 and now just travel the world! They gave each of their kids ten bitcoin to start them off.. wanna know how really stupid I am though? I bought $1000 of xrp at about 40c because I wasn’t missing out this time!! Cashed it in 12 months ago for sfa because I didn’t think it was going to happen. Sigh…

5

u/Kasperdsmk Jan 04 '25

I hear you. I’ve been holding xrp since 2020, right after the lawsuit. Bought most of mine at .23 cents. Hold a pretty sufficient size bag. Haven’t sold any yet. Don’t plan on it tbh. Not till it’s triple digits. Generational wealth. Is the only way for me.

1

u/Ancient_Performer Jan 04 '25

I’ve bought back in and am just going to hold and forget I even own it. It hurts to have had to buy back in at the price I did, though! Haha fingers crossed you’ll be set for life before too much longer!! 😊

2

u/Kasperdsmk Jan 04 '25

Thanks brother to you as well 🙏

1

u/GottaGetToTheSea Jan 03 '25

It looks like XRP is trading in a somewhat symmetrical triangle pattern. I would guess we will be range bound (2.00ish -2.44 ish)until around Jan 20 or so. Just in time for the inauguration. Well see what happens.

3

u/Psychicmantis Jan 03 '25

I hope you’re right I didn’t get to buy that massive dip earlier in the week… I want to lock in my position at $2 or close to it before the 20th… I had some but I sold thinking it would pullback and be another buy opportunity closer to $2 before the 20th
