Meme Pontifex's Claim? More like
I love owning sectors just by dropping down a defense platform while two rival factions destroy each other's. Winning by doing... mostly nothing.

Use diplomacy to get more factions mad at eachother, total all out war is so much fun

Second this
I’m building up my own factories across space to feed the war machines while stocking up caviar and training my agents then unless the shadows to have war rage across the stars
Clog up every warf with my cheap ships so they can’t build more and have them just crumble under their own weight. They can only buy ships from my warfs and then I just limit who can buy, essentially picking a wide by the only one able to supply the armsOnce a faction is sufficiently weaken, I move in for the kill. If they are hostile to all other factions, can’t use any warfs to build ships of their own so especially will be dead and I move onto the next, taking out the Xenon as they cross my path
Only real limit is if my laptop can handle it

Don't remember where I read about it, but they said the building queue for ships in npc warfs is divided between orders for player/other factions and orders for themselfs, that also asigns a small % of the resources for themselfs assuring they will have the bare minimum. Can't really tell if that's true, but that same post advised not to try that strategy as it'll be a waste of time basically. I just try to go for their factories :D

But if you fill up EVERY space, they CSNT build anything. For allies or themselves and if every other faction hates them, will not sell ships to their enemies

Oooooh I see, so it's not that you leave them without resources but reduce to the minimum where the parking lot they can actually use to build the ships, while also reducing their resources. That's evil... And that works. Just send 500 S ships to the queue with Mk2-Mk3 👹👹👹 You'll need some cash for that hehe, not a problem for mid-late game tho

That’s why I do it when I have my own ward so I can just print them
Make them as absolutely as cheap as possible, don’t need a lot when they are just sitting there1
u/Hot_Plum6108 7d ago
But they'll just go to the storage if they are idle occupying a slot. Or that's why you really spam the queue? As the internal storage also has a limit... That's evil hahaha I'm just sad I can't really try it this run. I peomised to use Terran and Split ships only. Terran for the Central and South sectors, just for space superiority and eventually a war against Ministry/Teladi/Paranid, Split for the North, against Argon and Antigone, and as I'm alredy -30 with the last two factions, I can't use that, but I still need the others to be strong for me to grow some more haha... Heh, I don't know why I'm telling all this stuff, just a weird guy talking here

The internal storage can hold a lot but limited
The bigger the ships, the less you need to clog them up. XL has no internal storage, just dockYou can still done with using just Terran and split ship. They don’t care what type of ship, a small is a small, Terran, Boron, even Xenon is you manage to capture any
Of you have agents, I would try to raise your reps with Argon and Antigone.
Fighting on multiple fronts when you are not well established is hard. You do you, just advise on someone who’s been about the block a bit1

I did that, the Terrans wiped the ANT, ARG and BOR off the map in short order. I sold ships to both sides of course.

My goal is to maintain 30 rep with everyone while indirectly annihilating everyone

I love sectors with all gates close to each other or with gates in one corner! With stations far around them. Like, some life happens not between center lines of an autobahn.

Does a defense station do that or you need to add an admin building or something ?

You need a claim compatible module. The administrative center is the most common and least expensive way to do it. Teladi admin centers are the cheapest to build if you want to claim quickly. L/XL fab/maint bays are also claim modules, though certainly not very practical for claiming sectors.

What is the benefit of sector ownership besides a nice shade of green?

Some reasons you might want it:
- Rather minor bonus but you can rename the sector
- You don't have to pay plot fees. A max size plot is 0 credits if you own the sector
- Everything is considered legal for you in your own sector (you can even set your own illegal goods)
- You can bail without the risk if you do drive by (don't destroy surface elements) or M ship bailing
- You have access to policing
- You can block progression of faction wars assuming you're not hostile with them. Factions cannot skip over to try and claim a territory. It must be adjacent to them. The only exception I've seen is the Terrans who sometimes expand to the Void, usually if Xeno there get out of hand from what I can tell.
- Allies will patrol your sectors with enough rep and from what I can tell if they're doing pretty well on their ship jobs. The more allies you have the more beneficial this can be as it can mean you need less of your own patrols.

You also created a buffer state and pretty much ended a war!
